Keira Knightley to battle Gemma Arterton and Anne Hathaway for Batman role

A handful of Hollywood’s hottest actresses – including Keria Knightley, Gemma Arterton and Anne Hathaway – are set to battle it out for a role in brand new batman flick, The Dark Knight rises, according to reports.

It’s thought the A-list actresses are battling out for two roles in the upcoming flick – a love interest for Bruce Wayne (that’s Christian Bale to us) and a villain, daughter of baddie Ra's Al Ghul, played by Liam Neeson.

Keira Knightley,Anne Hathaway, Gemma Arterton and Jessica Biel are all set to battle it out for the lead love interest role, according to showbiz site the Hollywood Reporter, and have all been invited to read for the role over the next few weeks.

Meanwhile, newcomer Kate Mara (sister of Dragon Tattoo star, Rooney) and British actress Charlotte Riley are both rumoured to be in the running for the second role.

‘Keira Knightley, Anne Hathaway and Jessica Biel are due to test for roles in the Warner Bros. superhero tentpole in the next two weeks,’ one insider revealed of the Christopher Nolan film.

‘Also testing are relative newcomers Kate Mara and Charlotte Riley. Hot British actress Gemma Arterton has also scheduled to test.’

It’s thought production will start on the new movie this summer, with a release date of 2012.

Gemma is the best choice, followed by Keira; the others aren't the right fit.

Gemma for sure... kate mara second choice... maybe kiera jsut because she is great at everything... all the others seem wrong.

the perfect choice is gemma no doubt, the other one could be jessica, that alone would make TDKR already better than the dark knight

Anne or Gemma..Jessica if not. As much as Keira may be good looking I find her acting very hard to watch at times. I bit cardboard!!
