Last year, we were excited to hear Katie Holmes was set to play Jackie Kennedy in a brand new miniseries about the famous family. But now the show has been scrapped, after bosses deemed it 'not suitable' for the History Channel brand.

The series – which was set to air in the US in March - is said to document the family's personal, as well as private life, with Greg Kinnear taking the role as President John F. Kennedy, alongside Katie as the famous Mrs O.

But now network bosses have scrapped the finished show, labelling it 'not fit for the History brand'.

‘While the film is produced and acted with the highest quality, after viewing the final product in its totality we have concluded this dramatic interpretation is not a fit for the History brand,’ a spokesman said in a statement.

'We recognise historical fiction is an important medium for storytelling and commend all the hard work and passion that has gone into the making of the series, but ultimately deem this as the right programming decision for our network.'

But despite the History Channel's plans to scrap the series, we might not have seen the last of it, yet. It’s thought producers are now looking for a new network to broadcast The Kennedy’s, and are still hoping to go ahead with the show.
