Carey Mulligan’s Great Gatsby role

In the most hotly contested role since Rooney Mara landed the lead in The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, Carey Mulligan is set to play Daisy Buchanan in a Hollywood adaptation of The Great Gatsby, according to reports.

It’s thought everyone from Scarlett Johansson to Amanda Seyfried, Keira Knightley and Rebecca Hall tried out for the sought-after part.
But last week Gossip Girl Blake Lively was being hotly tipped to win, after being spotted dining out with director Baz Luhrmann and some studio execs in New York.
Now it seems the talks fell through, and homegrown Brit actress Carey Mulliganis being touted as frontrunner in the F. Scott Fitzgerald production.

The star is close to signing on the dotted line, with the director phoning her personally just days ago to offer her the part, according to reports.
It’s thought lucky leading lady Carey – who split from long-term beau Shia LeBeouf last month – will star alongside lovely Leonardo DiCaprio in the period flick, set to begin filming next year.

Well done to Carey. But anyone else think Clooney is the only man for the role of Gatsby? I LOVE Leonardo but this has Clooney written all over it... (would need to darken his hair though before filming, but it's possible)
