We weren't entirely sure what to expect when we heard that Gwyneth Paltrow was going to be performing live at the Country Music Awards...

Firmly bridging the gap between actress and singer territory, Gwynnie bravely took to the Nashville stage for a rendition of the title track from her new movie, Country Strong - in which she co-stars with Leighton Meester.

And quite frankly, we were very pleasantly surprised...

Showing off that enviable physique of hers in a fitted LBD, and with guitar in hand, Ms Paltrow gives a solid, confident performance, with a little help from singer-songwriter Vince Gill on backing vocals.

Someone's clearly been taking tips from her rather famous singer husband...

She has a lot of potential and I am sure she was probably nervous. When she puts the true power behind her vocals she will really let the world see what she can do. A little weak in parts. Need to hold those words and notes with some "UMMPH" and she'll do well.
