Phone lines were buzzing this morning, as Take That fans all around the country tried desperately to get their hands on tickets for the highly anticipated 2011 Progress tour.

Operators were overwhelmed and websites were in a frenzy as ticket agencies tried to cope with the sudden rush.

Phone company Orange reported a huge spike of 144% in calls between 9am and 10am. 'We can only attribute the spike in calls we’ve seen this morning down to Take That tickets going on sale,' said a spokesperson from the company.

Many fans, however, were left disappointed after they faced considerable problems securing tickets to see the five boys in action.

Several websites of official agencies simply could not cope with the sudden influx and buckled under the strain.

'Due to totally unprecedented demand all ticket agents across the UK, are struggling to cope with the sheer volume,' revealed a spokeswoman from Ticketmaster.

According to MTV, tickets for the 2011 tour are more in demand than Michael Jackson’s This Is It concerts, when they went on sale last year.

The 14-date national stadium tour, taking place next summer, will see Gary Barlow, Mark Owen, Jason Orange and Howard Donald reunited with Robbie Williams for their first tour as a five-piece in fifteen years.

However, don’t panic if you have not managed to lay your hands on the highly coveted tickets. Due to the extraordinary demand the Back For Good singers have added an extra six dates.
