X Factor's Cher Lloyd slams weight critics
By Eleanor Young on Friday 8 October 2010
X Factor favourite Cher Lloyd has hit back at critics claiming she is 'frail' and has an eating problem, insisting she back to full health and will come out fighting at this weekend’s live shows.
The singer faced criticism over the weekend, when, after a disastrous performance during the ‘judges houses’ stage of the show, was put through by Cheryl Cole ahead of African contestant Gamu Nhengu.
After being branded ‘a risk’ by Cheryl, Cher has dismissed claims she’ll drop out of the show, slamming ‘evil’ critics and who’ve cast doubt over her weight.
Despite her tiny frame, she insists she’s still eating, and has chicken restaurant Nando’s ‘on speed dial’.
'I am eating. There is no problem. Of course I am eating I wouldn’t be able to perform if I wasn’t,’ she told The Metro.

But she did admit that frustration got to her during the show last weekend, when she could hardly sing, and ended up in tears.
'At judge’s houses it wasn’t the pressure that was affecting me it was frustration. I knew I could smash that song, she said.
'Off stage I am very nervous but as soon I as I get on stage then it is different. I will be fine.'

As a sufferer of anorexia nervosa for over 5 years I would say people need to leave the girl alone! If she has an
eating disorder then her FAMILY and FRIENDS will help her not idiot tabloids with nothing better to do, they should realise they play a major factor in giving girls eating disorders. So instead of commenting etc which only feeds the eating disorders determination to kill u leave her be. It's a disgrace. The poor girl has talent and will be overshadowed by this crap through her time on xfactor! I say good luck to het keep your head up and ignore the idiots sticking their noses in. U know if u have a problem and u can get help.nobody else.

Why are people always labelled, he/she is too fat, he/she is too thin, no wonder we all have a warped perception of what a healthy person looks like!

Sadly we live in a world where the media dictates anyone in the spotlight is either too heavy (usually still a healthy weight) or too thin and, therefore, has an eating disorder. I should imagine that there are many celebrities who do indeed have anorexia or another disorder, as few people are naturally very skinny and still eat well (although some people just are). However, I hardly think that being so critical of these women is the answer. If we stopped focusing so much on what women's waist sizes are and instead look at the other aspects that make them talented and beautiful, there'd be a lot less eating disorders in the first place. Someone's size does not dictate how beautiful they are and the media needs to find something else to obsess about instead of being so intent on destroying an impressionable generation's self-esteem.

unfortunately recent allegations about Cher`s bullying and making the lives of others a misery whilst at school somewhat transcend any eating disorder she may or may not have. Bullying is awful and should never be allowed to fester and therefore I feel she should be immediately axed ... she seems to be a rather self-centered individual with so called "attitude" but not in a good way.

The media are obsessed with eating disorders so it is natural they would amalgamate the interpreted 'signs' and suggest Cher is suffering anorexia.. I suffered anorexia myself for 2 years and I still struggle-but it is not something one would talk about or share, especially when reporters are involved. It is possible she has not even admitted to herself yet because it can happen as a way of coping and she may not even realise she is doing it. That is how it works, it pacifies.. I really deeply empathise and hope that she does not have to deal with more accusations because it is a mental illness and not about self image or appearance and it is time the media stopped portraying it as that.
