Harry Potter fashionista Emma Watson is said to be in the running to play the lead in Hollywood’s anticipated adaptation of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, and is rumoured to have chopped her locks off for the part.

Just last week the Burberry beauty lopped off her long hair in favour of a short pixie crop, posting pictures on facebook, and revealing it was a ‘liberating experience’.
But now it seems Emma may have had an ulterior movie for going from long to short.
The star has reportedly been screen tested for the biggest vacant role in Hollywood – the lead in Steig Larsson’s The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo.
'Emma has auditioned with director David Fincher and cut her hair to look the part,' one insider told the Sun.
‘The character of Lisbeth is a misfit goth-type girl with spikey hair.’

But it seems Emma may have a fight on her hands if she wants to secure the coveted role. Carey Mulligan, Ellen Page, Natalie Portman and Kristen Stewart are rumoured to have their eyes on the part.

Would you like to see Emma take the lead in The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo? Or do you think the film needs someone more edgy? Let us know in the comments box below.

I think Emma has the potential to do this role. But, she's up for some competition since Ellen Page is also a choice.

She would be different ..an unknown advantage..against the obvious..
The directors must have thought she could do it to gain an interview..No????

To be honest I wouldn't mind seeing any of these actresses in the role, it would however be quite refreshing to see Kristen Stewart play a part like this.

Whilst without question Emma is a pretty ingenue who looks great in a Burberry mac, her role in Harry Potter is already a stretch too far of her 'acting' ability. There is no way she can portray the depth of character required for the part of Lisbeth Salander.

Her role in Harry Potter was an extension of her high school drama class. The girl can hardly act and as for depth of character, really has none. BAD CHOICE.

Dont think any of them are really ultra stars for the part..
but many an actress has been 'rediscovered' for stage and film and tv by giving them a chance at something a bit meatier..
wouldnt u say... the above would be wanting this as they are always in the public eye with teenys....mayb emma has the edge .who knows...

No, it needs someone cooler, cookier, street. Kirsten is a better choice but taylor will nail it

Think the Swedish film is good enough they shouldn't be making an American version of it in the first place.
