Gavin on Charlotte: 'We weren't good for each other'

Gavin Henson has admitted that he and Charlotte Church decided to split ‘for the sake of the children.’

The rugby star and the singer dated for five years before calling time on their relationship back in May, and have two children together – Ruby, two, and 18-month-old Dexter.

‘It’s no secret that we weren’t getting on,’ he told a UK newspaper. ‘We didn’t want to drag it out for another couple of years.’

‘I couldn’t have the children being five or six years old, and crying because we were arguing. I wouldn’t want to tear the family apart then, that would be horrible.’

The pair decided to go their separate ways a mere three months after announcing their engagement, on Charlotte’s 24th birthday in February.

‘I thought we were going to be together forever,’ he continued. ‘We loved each other, but we weren’t good for each other.’
