Sorry star Lindsay Lohan has checked herself into a Los Angeles rehab clinic, in a last-ditch attempt to avoid jail.

Reports suggest Li-Lo has been staying at the Pickford Lofts sober living facility since Wednesday, and has even been visited by her family, and ex-girlfriend Samantha Ronson.

The private clinic, which 'strives to offer a safe haven so that those in all stages of recovery can develop skills that will aid them in their journey of sobriety,' was founded by attorney Robert Shapiro.

The famous Hollywood legal worker has taken over Lindsay's case after her previous lawyer quit the trial, and it's thought this could be a last-ditch to keep the star out of jail.

Activities at the Pickford include residents meetings, morning meditation, weekly family support meetings and 12-step work, all of which the star will have been expected to take part in during her stay.

But it seems that the Lindsay's attempt to convince the judge she is getting help is all just too little, too late.

'It's a really a moot point to ask Judge Revel to send Ms. Lohan to rehab only as Judge Revel has already sentenced her,' the case prosecutor told Radar Online

'Ms. Lohan is going to jail... Judge Revel could have sentenced her to more time behind bars, but she didn't.

'The only issue to be decided is what rehabilitation facility Ms. Lohan will be sent to after she serves her jail time.'

It's thought that Lindsay will spend her remaining time at the facility, before entering prison next Wednesday.

I think Li-Lo seems lost and in a way, feel sorry for her. It's a shame it's had to come to jail, but perhaps it might actually be what she needs to be able to move on.

In general terms, one thing is clear - celeb status should not serve as law evasion, they should face the same fates as civilians.

Very best wishes to Li-Lo - hope she can come back fighting.
