Sandra Bullock was back on the red carpet at the weekend, attending first the Guy's Choice and then the MTV Movie Awards, in her first public appearance since the break-up of her marriage to Jesse James.

The star has kept a low profile since the split - which happened just days after her Oscar win - talking only about her adopted son Louis in interviews.

But Miss Bullock made an attempt to move away from her recent troubles, smiling and joking during her explosive comeback.

The star was presented with the Troops Choice awards for Best Entertainer of the Year at Spike TV's Guy's Choice Awards on Saturday.

Accepting her prize with a graceful and witty speech, Sandra asked the audience: ‘Let's be honest here, just for a moment. Did I win this for being entertainer of the year, or did I win this because of the spectacular I.E.D. (improvised explosive device) explosion that became my personal life?!'

And she was back on the red carpet again at the MTV Movie Awards on Sunday, sparkling in a black, backless mini dress as she took to the stage to collect her Generation award.

Using the open floor to address some of the most recent Hollywood rumours, the smiling star told the audience: ‘One, I'm not dead. Two, everyone has cellulite, not just me. Paparazzi need more flattering lenses. And whoever established the high road and how high it should be should be fired.'

Joking that her gong was for ‘old people' Sandra confirmed she will definitely not be quitting acting. ‘That's not going to happen. I'm staying. Because no matter what you might have seen or heard or read lately, I love what I do,' she said.

The actress - who was also up for Best Kiss with Scarlett Johansson's husband Ryan Reynolds - was presented with the prize by Scarlett on her husband's behalf.

So Miss Bullock instead grabbed shocked Scarlett for a quick smooch, declaring: 'Now that we have done that, can we please go back to normal?' Therapy's really expensive.'
