Charlotte Church and Gavin Henson split

Just six weeks after announcing their engagement, Charlotte Church and Gavin Henson have revealed they are to split.

Gavin proposed to Charlotte in April, flying the Welsh warbler for a romantic lunch at a secluded spot in Cornwall.

But it seems the romantic gesture just wasn't enough, and after much 'soul searching' the celebrity pair have told friends they will be going their separate ways.

'It is an incredibly sad state of affairs. Both Gavin and Charlotte are deeply distraught,' an insider told the News of the World.

'But after a lot of soul-searching, they realised this is the best course of action for them and the children. It was a mutual decision.'

And the pair - who were together for five years - have wasted no time in getting on with life following the announcement.

Gavin jetted straight off to Spanish party capital Benidorm with a group of male pals, reportedly hitting the bars as soon as his budget flight touched down.

And newly slim Charlotte - who is expected to re-launch her pop career in the wake of the split - was spotted splashing out at the shops and visiting McDonalds with the couples two children, Ruby and Dexter.

I don't know why but I am sad to hear this even though they are just another celebrity couple but they seemed so perfect for each other. Poor kids...

This seems to have been on the cards for some time. I can't remember ever reading news that they were actually happy. Hopefully they can both move on and not drag their children through an embarassing media circus like a certain other couple who I am sure I don't need to name!

Been a long time coming..Great shame ...maybe it will work out in the long term after a while but I think .hes a bit envious and shes a bit..gotta get my career back on track...it might have gone the CC and Ashley route in the end..same scenario..successful wife and hubby career off kilta?

I only ever read that they've been rowing, they don't seem able to go out together and drink. Me and my boyfriend love a night out whether we're just bar hopping and watching bands, or out having dinner. We went and saw Paul Weller on Thursday and had a great night.
Seems a bit Jeremy Kyle to me, why do people in unstable relationships have kids???

People these days are so selfish - they should stay together for the kids, infact they shouldn't have had kids till they were married.
