The royal rumour mill has spun into overdrive yet again, amid reports that Kate Middleton's string of royal engagements will pave the way for a wedding announcement this summer.

It's been revealed Kate has put herself forward to attend several charity events starting this autumn, a role which she'll continue if the pair marry.

Kate's name is already down for certain events,' an insider told the Sunday Telegraph.

'She will take a higher profile before the engagement is announced.'

So it seems a wedding could well be on the cards for next summer, with royal biographer Tina Brown suggesting an announcement could take place as soon as June.

'A high-placed source in royal circles tells me that two days in June have been mysteriously blocked out on the palace diaries - June 3 and 4,' she wrote in her blog just last month.

They suggest this is a likely date for the engagement announcement at last of the 27-year-old Prince William and his patient squeeze, 28-year-old Kate Middleton.'

William and his lovely beau were spotted out and about in Scotland over the weekend, attending the wedding of their university friend and flatmate Oli Baker.

We wonder if they were taking notes for their own big day?

I think that it is a good idea that the Prince is taking his time in choosing a bride...this may be an especially difficult decision for him for multiple reasons, I do hope and believe that no matters who he marries it will be the correct decision as a lot rests in his hands with such a life change both personally and duty related.

It would be great to see Kate and William officially hitched. They always seem so happy together and Kate would make a lovely bride. I wish them well.

Prince William had better hurry up and get hitched before he loses his hair!!!! He looks so handsome at the mo with all his hair mostly intact, can't say I like a man with a bald head! Even if he's a prince!!!

Kate has always been my role-model. She is so elegant and beautiful. Also, I am always amazed by her down to earth personality. She is can be a great role model to thousands of girls in GB. She will make a fabulous second half to William! William is so lucky!

Attending glitzy charity events is not what I call charitable. She needs a proper job!

I think Prince William will make the right decision. He seems bright and very intellegent. Only he know's in his heart how he feels and his duties to his people. He will make an AWESOME KING one day!!!!

I honestly don't believe this relationship will ever get to the marriage stage. I think he is comfortable with her, but not in love with her. I also don't believe she is qualified enough to be a princess. She has never had a reputable job, she goes on vacation more than 3 times a year, and after 9 years of dating she's just now starting to volunteer when she could have been doing that since graduating.
I wish Prince William the best and hopefully when he does get married, it'll be to someone he is in love with.
