Robert Pattinson to play Kurt Cobain in Hollywood biopic - Nirvana, Scarlett Johansson, Courtney Love, Twilight - Marie Claire

Look out R-Patz fans, Robert Pattinson might be about to go all rocker on us... The Twilight star has reportedly just landed his dream role, playing music legend Kurt Cobain.

While Rob steps into the Nirvana frontman's no-doubt grungy shoes, it is thought that his leading Courtney Love lady will be played by none other than blonde bombshell Scarlett Johansson.

And Rob - who has previously made no secret of wanting to share his musical talents with the world - must thrilled at the thought of getting to sink his teeth into playing Cobain, who sensationally shot himself in 1994.

The Sun reports that the 23-year-old has been in regular contact with Courtney Love, who only agreed to the film on the condition that ‘she gets to decide the main aspects of the project, including director, casting, screenplay and music,' says an inside source.

And it looks as though Rob and Scarlett were top of her list.

‘Robert has been calling and emailing her non-stop,' says the source.

‘She has been a bit wound up by his manners, but he is her number one choice to play Kurt.'

Tread carefully Rob. Nobody wants to get on the wrong side of Miss Love...

‘She is adamant Scarlett will play her,' the source added. ‘Scarlett is friendly with Frances Bean, her daughter with Kurt.'

The Hole singer has reportedly been in touch with director David Fincher - the man behind Fight Club, Se7en and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button - about the project, which has been given the initital working title of All Apologies.

The film was originally pitched a few years ago, with Zac Efron suggested as the actor to take on Kurt - but was swiftly blasted by Courtney with a very firm no.

I think he'd be great as Cobain. Not so sure about ScarJo as Courtney though... She's too polished.

is this a joke? courtney was the one person who knew kurt best and she should have some sense to cast someone that is remotely similar to kurt. oh and courtney, don't flatter yourself by saying that you look like scarlet johanson

I feel that Rob would do a great job as Kurt....he can definitely do the grunge and he's a singer/musician. I think it's a little stretch for Scarlett as Courtney, but I'm sure she can make herself look the part. Sounds like an awesome film.

I think Rob will be awesome as Kurt Cobain! I can't wait until they do this movies, Rob has talent and he keeps getting better with each role he does. I thought it was strange at first, I couldn't picture it, but now I totally can. I know Rob can do better then Zac Efron and Courtney saying NO is awesome and picking Rob!

Zac Efron?! lol Who ever came up with him in casting must have been joking. I think Pattinson might be able to pull it off though. Be interesting to see this film.

Taking the role of Kurt Cobain is taking the role of a suicidal, very unstable, man, rocking on the outside and fragile on the inside, suffering from both alcohol and drug addictions and anorexia. I am not sure that Robert Pattinson will be able to subtly portray such a complicated character. His roles have been relatively superficial so far, and his acting too! Fine for teenage drama, but perhaps not so fine for a biography film...!

I am sure Scarlet will be able to get in the part of Courtney okay. She has proven that she can use her dark side in acting with some previous roles, and to be a realistic actress. All she needs is to be prepared to show her herself not pretty or elegant or self-conscious, and to rely on rawness instead.

Thank god for Robert Pattinson that David Fincher will be the one to direct the film. He always makes sure his films are of a good standard. Hopefully he'll get Robert to achieve the performance he needs.
And hopefully this will not be a film just to make millions out of naive girl fans, who are pleased just to see Robert's body!

This film will be especially interesting for people who grew up with Kurt Cobain and for old fans. Using Robert Pattinson for this film is dangerous as most people who were into Kurt Cobain will not understand this choice!
Kurt Cobain is from a time where most artists still wrote their own songs! And created their own image! That is simply incomparable to the type of fame slick, commercial stars like Robert Pattinson get from soapy teenage flicks.
I think a lot of people will have problems even imagining that genuine and raw style of Kurt Cobain on Robert Pattinson, which will make it extra hard for him to pull of the role. Not even to mention the depth of acting that is needed for the biography!

Unless... this film is only being made for commercial reasons, in which case Robert Pattinson will do fine for getting a lot of girls to pay for a ticket. Let's hope not!

omg it would be AMAAAAZING if rob played kurt!!! he would sooooooooooooo fit the part!!! i LOVE him sooooo much!!! but i heard hes not actually playing kurt and it was all just a rumour...well it sed that in the guardian guide thing anyway...i will be so sad if thats true...:( luv ya rob xxxxxxxxxx
