Freida Pinto signs up as the next Bond girl

Freida Pinto has reportedly landed one of the most iconic roles in cinema - as the latest Bond Girl.

Reports claim that the Slumdog Millionaire beauty has bagged the role opposite Daniel Craig in his third 007 flick, which is rumoured to be her biggest movie deal to date, landing a £3 million pay cheque.

The film will be directed by Sam Mendes - fresh from his split from wife Kate Winslet - and will be set partly in Afghanistan.

House actress Olivia Wilde is reportedly in the running to play a second lead female in the film.

A source revealed to The Mirror: 'The project has been in the pipeline for months and Freida was always the dream Bond girl, but initially she was nervous about accepting it. This is going to be the most ambitious 007 yet. Sam plans to reinvent the genre.'
