After officially announcing her split from Ashley Cole yesterday, Cheryl's now facing a £22 million divorce battle.

The star had been hiding out in LA during the past week, but jetted back to Britain yesterday to face the music.

Just hours after she arrived back at her Surrey pad, Cheryl's management released an official statement confirming a split from her husband.

And now Cheryl faces a mammoth divorce battle over the couple's £22 million fortune.

Legally, the star is entitled to half of everything, despite being the lower earner.

Ashley is worth a reported £14 million, pocketing a high salary from Chelsea football club, as well as lucrative advertising deals from Adidas and revenue from his company Kenzie.

Meanwhile, Cheryl had made more than £5 million from her singing career, as well as raking in a reported £6 million in advertising deals and her X Factor salary.

But the pair will still have to hammer out an agreement over who gets to keep their impressive home, and chihuahuas Buster and Coco.

Cheryl was last night believed to be holed up at home, refusing all visitors and even the company of her mum, Joan.

But after taking time out, it's rumoured the songstress could even consider a move to the States to take up a spot on the US X Factor.

‘Cheryl is nobody's fool,' said one insider. 'She is determined to knuckle down now and focus on her career.'

Cheryl clearly loves Ashley, she stood by him through the last round of rumours, when every girl in the land was thinking... if he can cheat on her gorgeous lovely Cheryl then the rest of us have no hope.! Her hurt must be ten fold; to be betrayed by him abusing her trust and love. I think if Cheryl decides to call it a day, it is absolutely the right path, this man will continue to hurt her. It would be a grave shame if she chose through love to let Ashley continue to hurt her and abuse her love. Cheryl is a special beautiful lady I hope she can be strong enough to let him go and clear the way for someone who will cherish her.

Hmmm, the name of their home is rather prophetic!!! Instead of deciding who gets to keep it, perhaps they should sell it and find other residences, or Cheryl will only be (sorry about this pun...) Hurtmore!

Thank god there are no kids involved! I think she had an inkling more would surface after the last one - that hairdresser Aimee Walton! She's not stupid, and she knows what footballers are like!

I'm sure Ashley is only doing what all the majority of successful footballers do, except he can't get away with it because Cheryl is famous so the girls can kiss and tell.

Cheryl is well rid, but no doubt there will be girls queueing up to bed him, just because he's rich and famous. To be honest, it makes me shudder.

Well i think she should dropped him last time,but clearly loves him,hes blind,stupid shes smart,loverly girl,and men be lining up to ask her out.I hope she goes to America to follow her career,and finds someone who respects her more.

..She will be fine..sell the house...leave it all behind..move forward and all will fall into place.
No one really will know what happened to cause all this...
Its a shame but its happened before and will doubtless happen again...I hope that they are both sorted sometime in the future ..what a very great shame but not unusual in these times with famous people.
