Pictures of Katie Holmes looking tired and grumpy while out and about in New York have been circulating the tabloids today.

Here at Marie Claire Towers, we like a celeb who doesn't feel that it's necessary to put on a full face of slap every time she leaves the house. Which is why we have special affection in our hearts for Katie Holmes. The long-suffering wife of Hollywood's leading Scientologist was pictured out and about in New York, very sensibly wrapped up against the freezing cold in a thick coat, woolly hat and scarf and a make-up free face.

After a week of seeing another Katie plastered all over the tabloids, a dolled-up one who seems to be a little more fame-hungry than Katie Holmes, it was refreshing to see the American actress stopping off for a morning coffee, looking a little bleary-eyed on her way to a morning meeting. We've all been there right?

The down-to-earth star has just returned to New York after a trip to Miami, where she joined husband Tom Cruise and his 15-year-old adopted son Connor for the Super Bowl.

Why have you labelled her 'tired and grumpy' when she's just out without the 'celeb' smile on. This must mean I'm permanently tired and grumpy....?
