Little Britain lothario David Walliams has proposed to the new leading lady in his life Lara Stone.

The comedic star got down on one knee to pop the question to model girlfriend Lara after her parents gave the relationship their blessing.

‘Yes, it's true, we're engaged and blissfully happy,' an ecstatic Mr Walliams told the Sun.

And the happy news comes soon for the pair, who have been dating for just four months.

Their whirlwind romance began last September, but the lovebirds went to great lengths to keep their relationship a secret.

In fact they have only been spotted out and about together a handful of times since they first got together.

Instead the couple enjoyed romantic evenings in, occasionally sneaking out for quiet dinners, but avoiding their usual celeb haunts.

An insider revealed David phoned lovely Lara's Dutch parents to ask for their blessing before popping the question with a vintage sparkler, which had come all the way from LA.

This is just such a strange couple, and I must say, in the top photo Lara looks about as far from a model as possible, she looks like she'd be more at home on a council estate than a catwalk.

Too soon to marry (4 months dating)? He looks unhappy in all the pics and she looks like a Kate moss wanabee (drug habit included)? Best of luck to them both but I've never heard of her & Think 4 months of dating is sooo not enough time to decide on a life partner!

Wonder who he'll propose to next week! sorry, I don't wish to be negative, and I do wish the couple every happiness. But in the fickle world of celebville I can't see it leading to marriage. But, I hope I'm wrong.
