Cheryl Cole - Celebrity News - Marie Claire

It seems that X Factor superstar Cheryl Cole has had a Christmas just like the rest of us, and is kicking off 2010 with a brand new diet.

'Cheryl agreed to pig out as much as anyone else over Christmas,' said an insider.

'She knew she would put on weight over Christmas and she promised not to calorie count.'

So after her excesses over the festive season, the practically perfect Mrs Cole has chosen the Leptin Diet to help her lose those extra pounds.

MORE CELEBRITY DIET SECRETS!

This celeb-friendly pound shifting eating plan involves eating three small meals a day, and leaving a gap of at least 5 hours between meals.

After a quiet Christmas, it's rumoured the famous Mrs C is planning to whiz mum Joan off for some relaxing time at a health spa, leaving husband Ashley at home to face a fine and possible driving ban for speeding.

‘They just need to decide whether they feel like jumping on a plane or getting a driver to take them somewhere in this country,' a source said.

Sounds pretty sensible to me. Good on her for not succombing to one of these extreme fad diets to loose weight quickly.

Well I'm sure she doesn't need to lose weight! But if it makes her feel better then fine. And of all the celeb fad diets, I must admit this one sounds fairly sensible
Comment by Steph on January 05 12:24

Oh give me a break... she is underweight anyway so what the heck is she moaning about...more useless publicity to keep her in public eye :(
Comment by jean on January 05 12:46

Diet what size is she? I think this sends the wrong message to young people. I agree with eating heathy, but surly she has not put that much weight on to diet
Comment by Jayne on January 05 12:50

eating meals with such huge time gaps between them kick starts the body's survival mechanism, which is essentially a slower metabolic rate. In short, Cheryl's body will try to actually STORE more fat than it uses if she carries on like that! smaller meals, more often keeps the metabolism ticking over and burning fat more effectively.

She is not underweight and she and other celeb friends have clearly stated that she eats like a pig. Some people are naturally petit, and she has always been quite tiny. setting out a diet doesnt mean she is going to stick by it. if it makes her feel more comfortable by losing a few pounds that shes put on then fair enough. i agree she doesnt need too but at least it isnt one of those gym everyday and one mean a day. x

Give me a break. No wonder children seem to think it's acceptable to be ill and underweight when muppets like her come out with such stupidity. Fat darling is something you haven't got. And while we are on the subject the Special K ad is mine the only husband who is appalled by the way the girl looks in the ad (ill and underweight).
Comment by Catherine on January 05 13:20

She's too thin and is in fact bordering on becoming another lollipop head! She is such an influential character for young women and girls being on a show such as the X Factor and she should use this position to promote healthy living and eating not dieting and becoming practically anorexic. TV production companies ought to take more responsibility for the impact that showing such thin people on the TV has on female viewers. People look up to Cheryl Cole and she has done nothing in my eyes to deserve this, gone on diets, dated a footballer, she can't sing, she cries all the time, she's hardly a great role model. There was nothing wrong with her figure 3 years ago but she has lost a lot of weight and perhaps gained a little again but still doesn't look healthy in my opinion. If it wasn't for all the great make-up she'd probably look like she's died. This needs to stop, people, particularly women on the TV and in magazines should take it upon themselves to promote a healthier size and shape to the outside world, we are influenced by these people noone can change that but I think that they should turn it around and use their positions to give off a different message instead of this stick insect creature they seem to want to be. It's just wrong. When will it stop? Maybe when we stop watching the television and reading magazines. Maybe that's the solution, ignore the media.

Cheryl Dosent need to go on a diet she is skinny enough loosing more weight will just effect her health more she is skinny enough she should just go easy on herself not after every unhealthy meal does she need to go on a diet.
Comment by Lucy on January 05 14:01

I agree with everyone else here saying WHY DOES SHE EVEN NEED TO DIET!!!!!! With eating disorders on the increase she is just adding fuel to the fire. If my 13 year old daughter decides she wants to go on that diet to be as skinny as Mrs Cole I will be throwing her CD out of the window!
Comment by Helen on January 05 15:48

Well if she feels better doing that ..probably feels like she has..u normally know yourself if you feel u have put weight on..even a tinytitch like her...but..really..I doubt it would even show ...she is soooo tiny..like Nicole Ritchie...up to her surely...doubt she is trying to make teenys get skinny....

I agree with Kes, eating more regularly, more often than after every 5 hours only, is better for a diet. It keeps the metabolism going better, which we all know is the key to dieting.
Thank god Cheryl's diet doesn't sound like a fad diet though, but it also doesn't sound like an effective one!

Well, let's hope for Cheryl that it is not very effective anyway, I think she would look really lovely with a few extra pounds!
I am naturally skinny myself, and I think that being a little bit curvy is sexy and more glamorous, so no dieting for me.
Cheryl might be sending out the wrong idea by publicly announcing that she is on a diet, when she is such a super slender girl anyway. Surely she can trust that listening to her natural appetite and doing regular exercise is enough to look great after Christmas.

from a healthy size 16 lady i put on 3lbs over xmas so what! at her age she should be able to lose her xmas gain by just exercice.wait till shes my age 55 to worry about a few pounds .
Comment by penny pumpkin on January 05 18:00

Sounds like a good idea to me. Calorie counting and exercise are the only way to do it. I've started using a website called purpleweightloss to record what I eat and how much exercise I do. Noting everything down really makes me think before eating more chocolate!
