Brittany Murphy's husband speaks out

Brittany Murphy's husband, Simon Monjack, broke his silence yesterday to tell reporters his world has been 'destroyed'.

The British screenwriter, who placed the phone call to emergency services after his wife's body was found in the couple's shower by her mother, told Access Hollywood on Monday, 'My world was destroyed yesterday.'

In Monjack's own words, what started out as a 'regular day' turned into a nightmare after Sharon, Brittany Murphy's mother, went to check on her daughter because she felt she'd been so long in the bathroom.

'Her mom screamed for me and I ran, then called 911.'

Although the LA County Coroner's Office had said they would try and rush through an autopsy report, it is now thought they are holding off making it public until the results of the actress' toxicology tests have come through, which could take a number of weeks.

The chief investigator of the case, Ed Winter, has already confirmed that prescription medications have been taken from Brittany's home.

Monjack, however, says that can be explained by the flu-like symptoms his wife had been suffering from in the days leading up to her death, adding: 'She had laryngitis. She had been tired at the end of the year. She had made a couple movies.'

While the authorities continue with their investigations, the 39-year-old widower is being comforted by the words of Brittany's friends and colleagues, including ex-boyfriend Ashton Kutcher who Twittered on Sunday: 'See you on the other side kid... 2day the world lost a little piece of sunshine. My deepest condolences go out 2 Brittany's family, her husband, & her amazing mother Sharon.'

Monjack said yesterday: 'I loved what Ashton wrote on Twitter. It was comforting to me. I couldn't have said it better.'

This is so, so sad. It just all sounds so worrying - I hope they get to the bottom of whatever caused it

RUMOURS OF PRECRIPTION DRUGS, OR EVEN WORSE DRUGS, SEEMS FUNNY A WOMAN SHOULD DIE SO SUDDENLY,THEY WIL FIND OUT, IF IT IS SELF INFLICTED,THEN SHE MUST OF BEEN UNHAPPY, PROABLY SOMETHING TO DO WITH MEN USUALLY IS.

Very sad to hear this. Why does everyone assume that she was addicted to drugs just because she's a celebrity and before knowing the facts. I think its very sad that people think this way.
Lucy got a chip on your shoulder about men hey? Grow up. With your assuptions you are hardly being fair.
