It's official. Hollywood super-couple Reese Wittherspoon and Jake Gyllenhaal have finally called time on their three-year relationship.

After weeks of are-they, aren't-they rumours, the couple finally announced their separation yesterday.

News first surfaced in November that their relationship was on the rocks, much to the surprise of everyone in Tinsel Town.

But publicists quickly leapt in to dispel any gossip, confirming that the happy pair were still very much together.

Despite this, the rumours refused to go away, and just weeks later our favourite celebrity couple announced they're finally calling it quits.

Reasons behind the break-up have not been revealed, but sources say the split is ‘mutual and amicable'.
