SEE shocking new pictures from Rihanna’s Hard video
By Eleanor Young on Thursday 17 December 2009
Rihanna is known for her towering heels and bold style, but now she's gone one step further in the video for her new single, Hard.
Taking a leaf out of Lady Gaga's book, the Umbrella star is pictured in a Bryce clinging bodycon dress with fierce padded shoulder spikes.
In a controversial move, Rihanna also poses with what looks like a heavy metal rifle, pointing it upward in the pictures.
Shot in the desert, another scene from the video shows the star in camouflage army colours.

‘It's couture military,' Rihanna said of the concept of the video.
‘Everything is surrounded around the idea of something military. We have tanks, we have troops, we've got helicopters, we've got explosions. We've got lots of cute outfits, lots of bullets. It's crazy.'

And it seems that Lady Gaga - no stranger to controversial wardrobe choices herself - was the inspiration behind Rih's dramatic new look.

'She has a very bold, fearless image,' the star said on the set the Hard video.
'I have to say, I have so much respect for original artists and artists who aren't afraid to do what they want to do,' she continued.
'That's what I respect most, so she's awesome.'
The video for Hard is set to be released at 4pm today.

Erm.. I'm not sure posing with guns really sends out the right message to her younger fans. Not a good look Rihanna.

I have to agree with Beth - not sure prancing around with guns is very cool at all.

Really don't think this is a good idea. I'm all for pushing boundaries, but guns?! Your fans are way too young Rhianna. Not impressed.

is it really okay to turn war into fashion when so many people are dying. I don't think its a clever move.
I certainly wouldn't like my daughter to watch a video which glamourises it.

Comment by Pen on December 17 13:25
Are you kidding me? Why is there outcry that she happens to have a war-themed music video?
Has censuring really gone so far that we are now convinced that a piece of art, be it a painting or, god forbid, Rhianna's shocking new video, can't have a toughened theme?
Tell you what Rhianna, next time save yourself the hassle of these kind of comments and do a video to a song called ''hard'' with rainbows and puppy dogs.......

Considering Soldiers are dying daily in Irak and Afghanistan a little more thought and respect could have been used.

would be nice if the originality didn't glamorise war
and showed some anti n.w.o. sentiment
