There was no dream romantic ending for Strictly couple Ali Bastian and Brian Fortuna.

The Bill's Ali Bastian and her dancing partner Brian Fortuna are out of Strictly Come Dancing after failing to make the show's final.

The pair - who have been romantically linked since beginning their dancing partnership - shared a lingering kiss on the dancefloor - but crashed out of the competition at the semi-final stage.

Now show favourites Ricky Whittle and Natalie Lowe will face underdogs Chris Hollins and Ola Jordan in next Saturday's final on BBC 1.

The departure of Ali and Brian was a shock as the pair received a perfect 10 score from every judge for their American Smooth performance.

Even nasty judge Craig Revel Horwood told Ali: ‘One word, three syllables. Starts with an F, darling. Fab-u-lous'!

Ali has suffered from nerves throughout the series and tensions were said to be getting to the pair who argued during rehearsals over dancer Ola - with whom Fortuna said he had a ‘special bond'.

But the spat was long forgotten when the show aired, and although displaying signs of her regular bouts of nerves during her Argentine Tango, the pair looked on top of the world.

After announcing the result of the public vote host Bruce Forysth pondered, ‘How can you go out with five tens'?

But a tearful Ali, who said she was devastated to be leaving, was appreciative she'd gone as far as she did. She wept,' 'I've loved every minute of it'.

'It's an awesome show to be a part of.'

The she added, ‘Thank you so much to Brian,' before planting a big kiss on his lips.

Brian replied, "You made this season so special'.

ali and brian were magical to watch, ali is 100% a better dancer than chris hollins,she should of won it!
it is very unfair that chris is in the final,its odvious it should of been ali and brian,even chris knows that!

I AM SAD THAT ALI AND BRIAN WERE VOTED OFF, ALTHOUGH I LOVE CHRIS IT WAS A TRAVESTY, SATURDAYS FINAL WHICH I WILL NOT BE ABLE TO SEE AS I WILL BE AWAY FOR THE WEEKEND AND WATCHING A PANTOMIME, WILL NOT BE A COMPETION NOW, AS IT IS A FOREGONE CONCLUSION THAT DUE TO HIS DANCING PROWESS RICKY WILL WIN, A GOOD DANCER HE IS, BUT HE HAS NO CLASS OR CHARM.
