Susan Boyle duets with heroine on Saturday night TV special
By Helen Lamont on Wednesday 9 December 2009
Susan Boyle once dreamed of being as big a star as West End star Elaine Paige.
Now, after a year of unbelievable success, the Scottish singer will share a stage with the woman herself.
Boyle, whose album I Dreamed A Dream currently tops the album charts on both sides of the Atlantic, will duet with Elaine Paige as part of an ITV1 Saturday night special. And it marks the culmination of year in which one housewife's dreams really did come true.
Susan Boyle shuffled onto the stage for her first Britain's Got Talent audition in January this year - and when that audition was screened in May she became a worldwide internet sensation.
After the emotional recording of the Piers Morgan TV special I Dreamed A Dream: The Susan Boyle Story, which will be shown after Saturday night's X Factor final, she said: 'I never thought I'd see myself standing on the same stage with such an icon from the West End theatre, let alone singing with her as an equal'.
'I don't want the dream to end.'

As well as the anticipated Elaine Paige/SuBo duet I Know Him So Well, Piers will present Boyle with a platinum disk for sales of her best-selling album.

The cast of Les Miserables will perform the track One More Day - then join Susan on stage for a show-stopping rendition of I Dreamed A Dream in the Grand Finale.
As the show comes to an end, Susan is clearly overcome with joy.
She tells the crowd: 'All of this was totally unexpected'.
'All I want to do is thank everyone for their support. It's been bloody fantastic!'

I am totally enthralled by this wonderful story. Some people my may mock reality TV, but how else would the likes of Paul Potts, Farrel Smith and Susan Boyle come to entertain us without it. I have Susan's 'White Horses' from X Factor on my Sky plus box and watch it regularly, unfortunately I deleted her first appearance on BGT by mistake. Fantastic.
