Danyl Johnson's X Factor dream in tatters as Olly, Stacey and Joe make it through to the 2009 final

In a shock exit last night that had mentor Simon Cowell reeling, favourite to win Danyl Johnson was the latest contestant to be voted out of the X Factor.
The suspense this week has been killing us, but now we finally know that Stacey Solomon, Olly Murs and Joe McElderry will all go on to face the final showdown.

Hotly tipped to go all the way, Danyl looked crushed on hearing the news, but took his defeat gracefully.
'Simon has been amazing and I have made some of my best friends for life here,' he said. ‘I'm looking forward to seeing friends and family and just do a couple of gigs. I'm going to see what happens.'
Meanwhile Simon Cowell couldn't hide his shock on hearing the public's verdict.
'There is nothing I would have changed, nothing more he could have done,' he told host Dermott O'Leary in a rare emotional moment.
‘It is just one of those things. He has gone out on a high. He is a graceful loser. I am genuinely, genuinely firstly upset and secondly I have to say it has been a pleasure working with you.'
Controversial star Danyl has certainly had his ups and downs. At one point his popularity took a nosedive after rumours of bullying in the house, and a bust-up with Simon over song choices.
But in recent weeks the newly humble star seemed to win the public back, sailing through the last few votes.
Although visably shocked, Danyl managed to hold it together for a final performance of Michael Jackson's Man in the Mirror.
It was also a dramatic night as far as the celebrity performers were concerned.
In one of her weirdest performances yet, Lady Gaga arrived on stage in a giant bathtub and dressed as a bat to belt out new hit, Bad Romance, while famous Jackson sister Janet danced her way through a medley of her favourite songs.
So with just one week left, the pressure is really on for the remaining contestants.

I was really sad to see Danyl go - I was backing him to win it!! Now I really can't decide out of the final three who I want to win. I think it'll be Joe though.

I was really sad too. I think Danyl was by far the best singer and it's only because Cheryl and the other judges called him 'cocky' at the start that he lost the public's sympathy. Please don't let Jo win - he's so annoying!

I really thought he was going to win actually! I can't believe he's gone out already! It's such a strong group this year though - I didn't really want to see anyone go. My money's on Stacey to win though, and I think Joe second and Olly third...

Joe should win, he is lovely,so genuine,and seems to be a really nice guy.

I honestly thought & believe that Danyl was the best singer in the competition, very closely followed by Joe. Listening to all the pundits give their opinion (and even Louis Walsh,shock horror)I do think that he was the one person with the potential to become a world wide star & fill stadiums wherever he appeared. I'm not sure that any of the other finalists possess that 'star' quality. Disappointed is not the word for how I feel, so I dread to think how Danyl must be feeling today...but I don't think this is the last we'll see of him!

Joe sounds like a girl, Stacey is constantly out of tune, Olly's the best of a bad lot. The standard has definitely slipped on this years X-Factor. I'm also sick of Cheryl Cole. It wasn't that long ago she punched some girl in a toilet - now she's an angel who can do no wrong. Time for it to go the way of Big Brother.

I've supported Joe from the beginning and hope he wins.
Danyl should have been in the final,he is definately better than Olly.

Joe is really talented and very cute, the girls adore him - an X Factor popstar !
Do not want Stacey to win - she can't string a sentence together, she sounds stupid and dizzy. Yes she can sing well but so can a lot of people who aren't up there on the stage in a competition. There's nothing special about her.
However Joe will probably do better if he comes second - less pressure to be great. Look at JLS....!

Got to be Olly he has real soul. Joe would be a perfect front man for a boy band. I find Stacey the most annonying person EVER to be on X-Factor. Good voice yes but why does she have to snort and gasp when she is talking. Cant tell a word she says.

I was really upset at Danyl going, and I agree with a comment made here earlier, that Cheryl started the ball rolling on Danyl, by saying he was cocky and too confident, you have to be that way to get on in this business, Elvis was, Michael Jackson was, Robbie is, and any Great Performer has to have this, she was wrong and Danni ended up agreeing with her and thats where the snowball began. Danyl was not only a great singer but he can really perform, Joe can only sing, he could never perform, Olly is O.K., a little bland, and Stacey well is just Stacey. I thought this show was about finding a star. I thought Simon was genuinely upset at Danyl going, and I really hope Danyl goes on and does better than the eventual winner. They are all a bit mediocre., exc

Thank God drama queen Danyl has gone, he was vile.Joe is by far the most talented, and seems a really nice kid-not sure why Xanthe finds him "annoying", but if she liked Danyl we're obviously not seeing the same things! 'Orrible Olly will probably win, seems to have more backing, but Joe definately more talented.I think Stacey is vert mediocre, and I can't stand her hysterics-just think if she won-!!!-her head would probably explode! (I wish!)

I am very disappointed that Danyl is out of the competition, I think it should have been Stacey, she does have a lovely voice but is not star material, just her voice on being interviewed would drive you crazy. I think that Joe will now win, he's got the voice and the winning smile but will he be a one trick pony like so many in the past. Let's just hope that Simon puts Danyl in touch with the right people and he gets the career he deserves.

Am I the only person that finds Joe so wet and cheesy and down right annoying !! Louis makes comments about Stacey not dancing, when have we seen Joe dance??? He's noy up to date, he sings borning and soppy songs and it makes me sick how Cherly goes all mushy over him !!..... He cant win because I cant stand to see that annoying face on the side for much longer !!!! Olly to win, he has talent and a personality !!!!!

I totally disagree with Kylie Jane-Olly is a bland, "cheeky chappy" one -trick-pony, who does the same silly dance moves regardless of the song he's murdering-who would want to pay good money to see him doing the same old thing, song after song? He's fine for a holiday camp season-the 12 year olds will relate to him-in fact, he'd be a great kid's entertainer.-but for adults with a brain? No thanks. Hope he and mad Stacey go off somewhere after the final, and we never have to see-or hear -either of them again.Mediocre in the extreme.

Olly didn't sing very well Sat. Danyl was much better, but has had too much bad publicity. Joe has a super voice and it doesn't hurt that he looks okey! i enjoy Stacey singing - pity she has to talk!!! Joe to win.

I can't believe the only guy with any real talent has gone. I have lost all respect for Cheryl and Danni , their snide and unjustified comments and their luke warm praise for some fantastic performances were totally shocking. I hope he goes on to become a big star , I certainly can't see any of those left doing that.

I think Joe will win, I like Olly as well so if he doesn't get top spot, then second would be good. I still think Danyl ought to be in the finals!

I chose Stacey from day 1. Why not give her a Barbara Streisand song or even a Shirley Bassey number. All these themed weeks they've had are great for the boys' voices. Also she looked great doing the chair routine and showed she could be versatile.

Joe has always been the best singer by far so he should win Stacey should be a close second. Olly is awful he dances like a drunk at a wedding and cant hit any high notes thats why hes always got really loud backing singers!

What a shame Danyl has gone - I would have like him to win. My votes now are for Stacey. I really don't think Olly has a very good voice and he wasn't that good this weekend at all. Joe has a good voice but is very cheesy.

o.m.g i gotta tell ya if danyl johnson was thier singing the climb now we would nail that out he would doo anything he was my favourite but now the annoying joe has won the x factor is over but thiers something else i gotta say olly murs should of won its out of order he could do great selling more records than joe but its ok though he will turn out as jls start 2 be famous.
