Lily Allen confirms she's 'quitting music' for fashion

We're no stranger to Lily Allen changing her style - and even her hair - on a regular basis, but now the star has dropped a new bombshell, claiming she wants to change her career.

In an interview with Radio One, Lily announced a gig in March next year as her last for the foreseeable future.

The star confirmed she'll be taking ‘at least two years' away from the music business to concentrate on acting and fashion.

Lily revealed exciting plans to set up her own fashion boutique, which will also allow people to hire outfits.

The singer's new store will be a joint venture with her sister, and the fashion-forward pair plan to call it Lucy In Disguise.

‘It's about making fashion democratic,' Lily said. 'That's the idea behind it.

‘It's about getting really nice clothes but letting people rent them for affordable prices so they can go out and feel like a million dollars and it won't cost them a million dollars.'

Lily had her first foray into fashion back in 2007 when she designed a collection for New Look, so it comes as no surprise that she wants to move into the industry full time.

And the singing starlet has started many a trend in her time.

Since she was spotted wearing these patterned tights recently, similar pairs have been flying off shelves all around the country.

What do you think of Lily's new career move? Could fashion be fun, or should she stick to singing? Let us know your verdict in the comments box below.

Hmmm... Its a tough one, because her style is pretty hit and miss.

I like the idea of being able to hire though - very credit crunch friendly!

Go Lily! It will be a shame if she gives up music completely, but I can't wait to see her fashion efforts. And I also love the idea that you can hire - I'll definitely be stopping by when it's open!

I guess celebrities are as entitled to a career change as the rest of us, but it is a little annoying too. I suppose she wouldn't be able to do it without her fame and she has looked fab this year and worn some gorgeous things. I am sure being buddies with Mr Chanel will help her no end!?

Lily can do no wrong...and her comeback album and tour will be worth the wait and simply amazing.
