How to get into ...

Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart to film a fifth Twilight movie?

By Charlotte Gunn  on Wednesday 2 December 2009

Robert Pattinson Kristen Stewart - Asked out 'a lot' on set, Twilight, Eclipse - Marie Claire

We're only just getting over the hype that was New Moon but news just in from Twilight Camp says we could be in for not two, but three more movies in the saga.

Summit Entertainment has revealed its plans to possibly turn the fourth book, Breaking Dawn into two feature-length films - which could see us queuing like schoolgirls at the cinema for the next three years, at least.

SEE THE STARS AT THE NEW MOON PREMIERE HERE

After the phenomenal success of Twilight and New Moon, it's hardly a surprise that Summit is keen to make the most of the buzz that is surrounding the saga and the box office receipts that have come with it. But is it just a shameless milking of the cash cow or is Breaking Dawn simply too long to do justice in one film?

Either way, the question lies as to whether both New Moon director Chris Weitz and of course the cast will sign on for the extra film. Certainly a hefty pay rise will be on the cards for Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart if the plan goes ahead.

What do you think? Is a fifth Twilight film necessary or are they just cashing in? Tell us in the comments section below.

Hmmm... I can see why it's necessary, but also can't help thinking they're stringing it all out as long as they can. Bit of the Harry Potter syndrome here I think!
Comment by Marie on December 02 11:51

Harry Potter syndrome, maybe. But it is necessary. There is so much involved in Breaking Dawn that if it was made into just one movie, things would be missing, like there is in Harry Potter. Trust me on this.

My sister (32) and myself (29) are loving the fact that we get to see Bella & Edward on screen for a while to come. Why not! We love the whole story and are totally stoked that for a few years to come we have a movie to look forward to at the cinemas! Good for Robert and Kristen ~ they are working actors and deserve all the remuneration they get! Don't be jealous because they have what we all want :) Well done guys!
Comment by Carolyn on December 02 14:09

I think that is a wonderful idea. I've read the fourth book and if they shouldn't leave anything out. I'm looking forward to it. This is one of the best films I've seen in a long time. I've seen new moon 3 times already.
Comment by Pierrette Perrier on December 02 14:27

I have to admit that I did not understand the hype over "Twilight" when it was first released. However, saw the trailer for New Moon, watched Twilight then went to watch the 2nd installment. OMG!!! LOVED IT!!! Im officially on the Twilight bandwagon.. not sure how I managed to do, but have the boyfriend hooked too.. Can't wait the rest of the movies to come out.. I get the whole Harry Potter Syndrome, but I think this is on par!!!
clearly way too excited :p
Comment by Sirina on December 02 14:39

Summit should decide asap. They are growing and considering that vampires cannot age, fifth movie should be completed in a year or two.I think Edward and Bella characters will stick to the actors so it shouldnt be that long.
Comment by Evren on December 02 15:00

When I read Breaking Dawn, I thought it should have been 2 books and it was too much crammed into 1 book. Two movies for Breaking Dawn makes absolute sense...
Comment by Aimee on December 02 15:10

wooo you should so do another breaking dawn as i have read the book and it would have to been a dead long film for one film so make it into two :) x
Comment by hayley medlock on December 02 18:19

breaking dawn has to be in two parts, hell the book itself is split into three parts1 if it was 1 film they'd miss out all the best stuff... *spoilers* the big fight, more wolf pack secrets, super romantic events... u have to read it if you haven't yet.
Comment by pamela on December 02 21:14

If you have read "Breaking Dawn", you know there is no way you can combine all of that into one movie. It has to be two movies.
Comment by Cinjdy on December 03 00:46

In order to do the story justice two movies should be made.
Comment by Isabel on December 03 02:11

the more the merrier
Comment by lara on December 03 05:43

Am I the only on that didn't really like the last book? I loved the other books and the 2 films, but I really don't think I will be seeing Breaking Dawn the films.
Yes there was a lot going on in the last book, but to me most of it didn't need to be in the book and just made it drag on a bit.

This could be a case of cashing in on an already fat cash cow, and in that respect it is a good idea. But its not necessary.
I'll will wait for it to come on sky movies.

Comment by Serena on December 03 11:16

of course its necessary, i went to see new moon last night and i would pay 100's if it meant i could see the next one now. it left me on the edge of my seat and the men! Phooaarrr!
Comment by Adelle Hallinan on December 03 13:15

I loved all the twilight books and there is a lot going on in the last 1 and it would be hard to like put it all to 2 and a half hours.xx seen new moon amazinn cant wait 4 eclipse noww x
Comment by blair on December 03 19:56

Hmm it is a really long book but theyve probably just got the idea from Harry Potter. Although, think of how much theyd have to cram into Breaking Dawn. Was just going to say something about it but suppose some ppl may not have read it yet. Wouldnt want to ruin it! x
Comment by Bella on December 03 20:35

I think they should make another movie. Theres sooo much in the fourth book that shouldn't be left out.
Comment by Julene on December 04 02:39

I loved New Moon and have seen it nine times so far. Breaking Dawn should probably be two movies. I am just not sure how to do it as the events overlap at one point. Summit will be cursed no matter which route they choose. Not enough of the book it they do one and labeled money-grabbers if they do two.
Comment by rose on December 04 15:03

It would be really cool if they could make Breaking Dawn into 2 movies but keep in mind vampires do not age?? And not to mention werewolves do not age either when the gene sets in soooo how are they going to keep Robert and Taylor looking so young?
Comment by Rachel on December 04 17:25

I think that splitting Breaking Dawn into two films is a great idea. Not just because it is such an incredible saga, but also because so much goes on in the fourth book. And if you split it, then think of how much more they can really bring the book to life on the big screen.
Comment by Candice on December 04 21:37

Granted, there is a lot in Breaking Dawn that shouldn't be left out, but I would definitely pay more to see a 3 hour movie rather than a 2 hour movie.
Comment by Judy on December 07 22:25

Breaking Dawn has far to much in it for just one movie!!! I definitely feel that two movies are necessary.
Comment by Lisa on December 07 22:32

I love the news, after seeing the new moon am even more in love and I got my husband into it except his all team wolve
Comment by v on December 08 04:19

If you think that New Moon moved at break-neck speed to get everything from the book on the screen, If they tried to get Breaking Dawn into 120-130 minutes, our heads would spin!
Comment by Kathy on December 08 14:45

I personally loved the fourth book. After I had seen New Moon in the theatres I was disppointed that they didn't put a lot of stuff in the movie that was in the book. My daughter and I would have sat through a 4 hour movie. We love the entire series. My favorite is Breaking Dawn. I hope they do make it into two movies. I would love to see everything from the fourth book to be brought to life on the big screen.
Comment by Toni on December 08 21:31

Maybe both, but why not give us what we want. Another book in the Saga would be more than we could ask for, but why not hope. I still haven't given up on Stephanie finishing Midnight Sun. Damn that pirate!
Comment by MidnSun on December 09 05:39

It needs to be 2 movies. This is a conversation me and my Twilight fan of a friend have had several times. This is my, and her, favorite book and it's also the longest. There is so much that happens in this book from the wedding at the beginning all the way to the Volturi at the end. We feel like if this movie isn't broken down into 2 movies, a lot of good stuff will be omitted. Then you have Jacob's narration in middle. If they break it down into 2, they could try to end it when Bella's laying on the table and when she opens her eyes and is a vampire, seeing things very clearly then the movie ends there. I don't know. Anyways, I'd like to see 2 movies and if it has to be bumped up to Rated R then so be it. They won't loose any money if they did, I promise.
Comment by Mandy on December 09 09:00

I am a total fan of the books and Breaking Dawn has simply got too much detail in it to be portrayed in one movie. To do the book justice, two movies is necessary!! I would really hate for essential parts of the story to be either rushed or missed completely due to time limits.
Comment by Amber Bremner on December 13 23:58

This would be a great idea if they made it into two movies. Even if that means they get more money off the "cash cow" i feel it would do more justice for the story.
Comment by Angie on December 15 00:13

Well if you have read the book ( breaking dawn ) then u kno that there r three books actually in the book so idk how they wud split it...
Comment by Brooke on December 29 04:56

i think they should cos its to long for one film and i dont want the movies to end cos i love watching twilight. it will also make us want to see the happy/scary ending.i also want to see rensmees powers
Comment by saskia on January 06 10:54

Why not?! I read the Breaking Dawn book, it's really too long to squeze into two hours film. Summit has a great idea. And besides, my favorite couple will be surely seen together for a long time. Hope to come up with the 6th book!
