Strictly Come Dancing superstar Ricky Whittle has been arrested on suspicion of assault after a row outside a nightclub at the weekend.

Reports suggest the actor is being held at a police station in Liverpool following the alleged incident, which happened in the early hours of this morning.

Sources say Ricky's car struck a photographer as he drove away from a party for the Hollyoaks cast in Liverpool city centre.

But exact details are yet to be released.

A police spokesperson said, ‘Merseyside Police can confirm that a 29-year-old man from the Billinge area of Greater Manchester has been arrested on suspicion of assault.

‘He remains in police custody where he will be questioned.

‘This follows an incident in Duke Street, Liverpool city centre, in the early hours of this morning.'

Hotly tipped to win Strictly Come Dancing, Ricky has wowed the judges with his fancy footwork week after week.

After a grueling 12-hour day filming Hollyoaks, the dedicated star has been hotfooting down to the Strictly studios to practice with dance partner, Natalie Lowe.
