Robbie Williams proposes to girlfriend Ayda Field LIVE on radio

Thousands of hearts are set to break this morning with the news that Robbie Williams has proposed to girlfriend Ayda Field live on radio.

The nervous singer was appearing on the Kyle and Jackie O breakfast show in Australia when he suddenly popped the question.

After calling Ayda into the studio, the show's host asked Robbie, 'Sydney has a bit of a reputation for proposals with celebrities, is there any news you want to share?'

The sheepish star then turned to Ayda and said, ‘Is there anyone you want to get married to?' before finally asking, 'Will you marry me?'

Gorgeous Ayda instantly said yes, and an excited and clearly unprepared Robbie leapt up to borrow a ring from the show's host.

Slipping the ring on Ayda's finger, the star said, 'I love you so much. Would you be my betrothed until the end of time?' Sweet!

Following the dramatic proposal, excited fans started ringing in to congratulate the happy couple.

There has been much speculation that the pair - who have been together for two years - were planning nuptials, so fans will be relieved a wedding has finally been confirmed.

We can't wait for the big day!

I really hope he meant it, but I have a funny suspicion that this could be a Robbie Williams style joke...

Congratulations Robbie and Ayda!

I watched Paul O'Grady show the other day and Robbie was a guest over there and he mentioned that he would like to propose to his girlfriend but wasn't sure how. He asked Paul's advice. So after this show I was expecting...

I think it is just another of his pathetic attempts for publicity like his crying on the Children in Need concert. He does it for attention like a child who is being ignored.
