Susan Boyle shows strain of US tour and No.1 Album
By Louise O'Connell on Thursday 26 November 2009
Performing live on America's the Today Show Susan Boyle belted out a note-perfect performance, which was broadcast oustide the legendary Rockefeller Centre.
Fans screamed for Susan and she was presented with a patchwork quilt knitted by hundreds of people from 28 countries including the UK, US, Australia, Mexico, Japan and even Antarctica. She started crying but then realised that she was in front of millions of people so snapped out of it and did a little dance.
The strange behaviour continued after the show as she was besieged by fans. Susan sat down and stared straight ahead, sucking her thumb. She was withdrawn, she bowed her head and began to sob.
Security guards separated her from the fans and bundled her into a waiting limousine.
Susan is close to the end of her American tour where she's promoting her debut album, which has broken records for being the fastest-selling album of the year.
In just seven months Susan Boyle has gone from an unkown Scottish woman to a worldwide singing sensation after a stunning performance on Britain's Got Talent.

Susan has such amazing talent, but I really hope she has the right people looking after her. That amount of fame would be more than most people could take, let alone someone from a very small town with not mucg life experience. Keep going susan!

She got a little teary when WE (I was there) gave her the quilt. She was a bit overwhelmed by the gift. But, she snapped right out of it. She never sobbed. Yes.. she took a couple of minutes away from the crowd. (a couple minutes at most). But she most certainly did NOT rush out and leave in limo. She stayed for a couple of hours and had a great time. There are NUMEROUS showing her laughing and joking.

I agree in hoping that the right people are looking after SUSAN'S interests, and not just those of the record/pr companies that eat you up and spit you out. I think she'll always need a gentle workload and protection from the enormity of her success in order for her to sing longterm. Without that she'll end up having a breakdown and living alone with her cat back in scotland, but worse that before, because she has got something amazing now and will have lost it. She needs a "mum" figure to always protect her needs first. get well soon Susan.

I feel sorry for Susan Boyle - she has lived a cossetted life and is now propelled into the limelight - it would be hard for anyone to cope with. Where are her managers or the people who are supposed to be looking after her. If she is on the verge of a breakdown - surely those around her should be cancelling her work schedule? Or is it a case of killing the golden goose for the sake of a few pennies more? He managers should get their acts together!
