Jedward voted off X Factor!

By Louise O'Connell  on Monday 23 November 2009

The nation's favourite indentical twins John and Edward Grimes, AKA Jedward, were voted off the X Factor last night.

In a dramatic sing-off between them and show favourtie Olly Murs, 26, Jedward had to sing Boyzone's No Matter What, but the judges and the public weren't impressed with their out-of-tune rendition and voted for note-perfect Olly Murs, who sang an amazing version of Eric Clapton's Wonderful Tonight.

The 18-year-old duo have become heart throbs to teenage girls, who love their high hair and fun and energetic performances.

Despite the legions of fans Jedward couldn't win over X Factor judge Simon Cowell, who has dubbed them, 'Vile little creatures.'

Jedward looked upset by the decision last night but there was some good news. The cover of Michael Jackson's You Are Not Alone, which the 12 X Factor contestants have recorded, has gone to number one in the singles chart.

The charity record sold 193,000 copies last week, making it the second highest-selling single of the year so far.

Are you pleased Jedward are out? Let us know your thoughts on the twins in the comments box below.

Nation's favourite? Only if you're 11! Good riddance - now maybe we can get back to a SINGING competition, something that they've not managed in tune since week 1!

Thank goodness they've finally gone! It was getting silly, as they proved yesterday that they really can't sing, there was no way they could have stayed in instead of olly

Well done Danni, the only judge with balls so far, she could have gone to public vote like the others but she judge jedward & olly on their singing ability and quite rightly sent them packing

There are much better 'singer' in this competition...and I think that, now, THE RACE IS ON!

Personally, I think it will be between Joe and Stacey. They are the top two.

But I think Joe will clinch it.
Comment by Lee Fisher on November 23 13:07

Danni should've gone to deadlock and let the public decide, just as the other judges have done the past 6 weeks. She doesn't even know she's judging a singing competition?! Time for you to go too Danni!

I thought they were looking for a recording artist? Still, I don't think we have seen the lst of them.
Comment by Andrea on November 23 14:06

I think some people misunderstood the point Dannii was trying to make last night when she asked 'am I judging a singing competition?' I think she was making the point that, as this is supposed to be a singing competition, it was ridiculous that those two had lasted so long, and that the other judges have not seemed to always be judging the competition as a singing one but moreso an ego, press and popularity fuelled one, especially considering Louis' vote last week and Simon's vote against Lucie.

Anyway, thank god they're finally gone, now we can take comfort in the prospect of a deserving winner - I don't know who I'm rooting for, it's a toss up between Stacey, Joe and Olly for me, they're all fantastic and I hope they all get record deals.
Comment by Jade on November 23 14:32

Thank Heaven they have gone. It is supposed to be a music competition and the judging certainlt should reflect that. Simon should have had bigger balls and Danni has proved to be the wisest of them all. The X factor has certainly got some damage control to do and Danni certainly has helped put it on track.
Thanks Danni...I can start to watch it again!!!

"note-perfect Olly Murs, who sang an amazing version of Eric Clapton's Wonderful Tonight."

Come again?! Olly's version of Wonderful Tonight was distinctly average, which is a slight improvement on his performances this week and last, which have bordered on tuneless. The longer the contest goes on, the more his limitations as a singer and a performer are highlighted, and him being in the bottom two reflected that.

At least Jedward brought a sense of fun and innocence to the competition. In their absence, I'd like to see Stacey or Joe, or even the much-improved Lloyd clinch the title. We've been manipulated as viewers into believing that Danyl or Olly had it in the bag. Time to prove Mr Cowell wrong.

My 7 yr old grandson loves Jedward- says it all!!! Hope the delightful Joe wins, he CAN SING and he's got a smashing smile.
Comment by kathy on November 23 18:32

Simon should have got rid of them when he had the chance. He only kept them in for the rating. Afterall it is a recording contract on offer for the winner
Comment by Lynda on November 23 21:47

Hey my 11 year old hates them! She screamed at the tv when Louis said all the kids love them shouting "well I'm a kid and I hate them I want Ollie to win!"
