Danyl Johnson threatens to quit X Factor over song choices

I've see a headline somewhere reading 'another diva strop', when was the first one, I appear to have missed that. He doesn't like his song choice.....don't blame him it's a dreadful song...what is simon thinking! Leave the poor lad alone. Just fed up of the whole business now, really turned off X factor this year and feel really sorry for all the stuff him and his family are having to put up with. No doubt there's some truth in this story, but i bet it was more like .....'don't like this song, I'm off to talk to simon about it' exit front door whilst hitching up shorts in disgruntled manner, then flip-floping off down the highstreet....unfortunatly, giving the media yet another change to do an hatched job on him just before the show. Really think I'm going to give the whole x factor nightmare a miss....it's all getting a little too sick and twisted for my liking. Don't care who wins anymore, wanted Danyl to win but it's becoming increasingly obvious that he doesn't stand a chance. Which is a real shame because that boy's got talent, whether you like him as a person or not. By the way he seems fine to me and when I read the story I smiled. Good for him!

Danyl has made Simon look good throughout this competition. Simon has done little to help Danyl or for that matter any of the contestants, he lets the public vote do his job. They have called Danyl arrogant, if there is any character trait that could be blamed on Simon, there are few viewers that would disagree with arrogance. Simon needs to get back on the front foot and stop coasting and leaning on his historical success. Sadly I have decreased respect for Simon, but the happy impact has been increased respect for Danyl. I wish him well.

No I dont think he is too confident. I think he is not being allowed to be himself; after all he is a Drama Teacher and dancer. I can understand why he is so worried about a potential wrong song choice after what happened to Jamie Afro and he knows after all the bad publicity he has had he knows he is the last person who can risk this.

Yeah it's unprofessional, bratty and probably not even true, but I do love reading about it and it really tickled me to think of him doing a runner like when you see kids running off in TESCO after getting a good telling off, arms flailing a red in the face.

Danyl's a brilliant singer - he and Joe are the best on the show. He must be nervous about such things as song choices and will obviously want to choose those that allow him to show off his voice to the best advantage. Having said that, the whole debacle over the twins has left me disillusioned, and I haven't bothered watching for the past two weeks - Simon Cowell made the wrong decision when he had the chance and he's now suffered by losing Jamie. Let's remember this is a SINGING contest and the twins can't sing!.

Perhaps storming out wasn't the best idea, but we don't know what words were exchanged. If the argument was with Simon then I'm not surprised he walked out - Simon is a very stubborn man who thinks he always knows best. I like Danyl and think he is a good performer with a great voice. He's been publicly humiliated on more than one occasion (some would say it goes with the territory I know) which many people, inlcuding myself, would not be able to deal with. These people are new to publicity and the press and won't yet have the tools to deal with having such rubbish written about them for the whole country to see. In respect of his 'over confidence'....well I'm still waiting to see that. I agree with some of the other comments here, Cheryl started this whole thing and when you think about it, doesn't she come across as cocky and over confident at times? We don't know what goes on behind the scenes and can't imagine the pressure and stress these young, inexperienced and (mostly) talented people go through. No matter what we think of the X-Factor, at this moment it time it's everything to these guys. Imagine it was your brother or sister, son or daughter being slated week after week. How would you feel?...... Give them all a break. Danyl especially - he doesn't deserve the bad publicity.

I've never understood why he's been labelled as over confident and arrogant, I don't see that in him at all. I'm not a fan of Danyl's voice but I do see he's talented and deserves to go far.

I can understand him getting annoyed about a bad song choice - it could seriously affect his chances. I started to really like Joe when he sung Small Town Girl because that's one of my favourite songs, but before that I wasn't rooting for him. It's a big factor in a contestant's success with the public.

I am fed up with comments that Danyl comes over as arrogant. The way he acts on stage and behind the scenes are completely different, anyone can see that. To many people in the past lost have lost out because of the wrong song choice, he or anyone for that matter should be allowed to choose the song they want to sing. Danyl is a talented young man, he knows which song choices suit his voice.There does not seem to be any compromise between the Mentors and Contentestants, and certainly it seems to be the case with Simon Cowell, my way or the highway. Singers already famous wouldnt dream of picking song choices that dont suit their voices, so why when the contestants who are trying to get a foot in the door are being made to sing unsuitable songs is beyond me. I am all for stretching someone's ability, but there has to be boundries. Go Danyl.

Danyl is a very good performer. He needs to be confident to command the stage the way he does but I dont think he's over confident or big headed in any way. IF he stormed off like the story says (exagerrated?)then that was a bit extreme but he IS under incredible pressure as look what happened to Jamie last week after the amazinf performances he gave. If Danyl isnt happy with the chosen song then PLEASE let him sing another one that he IS happy about. How can he give a good performance when the song isnt even a good/well known one? Come on Simon, be fair to him or do you now WANT Jedward to win and you think Danyl might be standing in the way? Either way you stand to make lots of money so YOU cant lose can you?? Why is Simon letting down his group this year? It was the song choice mistake that cost Jamie his place last week and now he's making the same mistake with Danyl. Are you sure Xfactor is not becoming a joke? It seems like a popularity contest with the mentors that doesn't know what they're saying or doing. I think Danyl isn't over confident, I mean, the judges ask people not to play it safe and to step up the game, and when Danyl takes their advice and does just that, he's slated for it.

I think it's a sign of the times that the majority of comments seem to be supporting Danyl's appalling behaviour! It's not about Danyl bashing or disagreeing he has a right to be worried about poor song choice (in HIS view,not the expert's!!)but about behaving in a socially acceptable manner & working WITH the very experienced experts who are trying to do their best for ALL the contestants. All he's done is given the impression he feels he's better than the others & justified in acting so differently to the rest of them.

Danyl had attitude and a god given talent which is essential to get on in this industry. I have hated seeing it bashed out of him by the likes of Cheryl. It was his trademark that made him distinctive and amazing to watch. I never wanted him to go through to the live shows as I was afraid he was already too good and that they would just try and change him and make him a "pop star" and thats just what has happened. I hope he rediscovers himself and shows us all once again that incredible talent and attitude that we all saw. Rise above it Danyl!

Danyl is one of the best in this competition - the second best got voted off last week. All the stuff in the press about Danyl is getting old. He's a great performer and a talented guy which is the reason people are probably coming down so hard on him in the first place. He is not overconfident or cocky, he is just a brilliant and confident (not overconfident) performer, which is what you need. If you get someone who comes out all shy then you're not going to be entertained.

Simon Cowell has blown it as far as we are concerned. He lost all cred over the voting fiasco of the last two weeks. The panel have become an embarrassment.

To be perfectly honest, I liked his first audition, apart from that i really dont like his voice.
I dont know if I'm hearing something different to everyone else, but I hear him singing and cringe! He sounds so flat most nights. And its simply because he can hit those big notes ( even though he hits them fantastically ) at the end of the song, everyone seems to fall at his feet.
I just feel that he is not as strong a singer as everyone is making out.

It was his oonfidence the public fell in love with during his first live audition. Cheryl calling him 'cocky' every week knocks his confidence. Probably why he threw a wobbly over the song choice. Not a great song choice either for him. I think he is a brilliant singer and entertaining when left to doing it his way and not constantly referred to as cocky. Cheryl should button it!!

i think it has been proved that no one is safe in the competition, danyl is a fantastic singer. But he needs to keep his cool. the public do not want to see some one acting spoilt. i think he is very talented but if he is making a fuss about a song then why is he there, he went into the compitition knowing the judges pick the songs and sometimes they are going to be challenge, he needs to get on with it and be grateful he is still there. i wish him all the best.

Assuming this story is accurate then I agree with Danyl that this is not the right song. Why is it that week after week Olly get to sing and dance to up tempo songs when Danyl has to sing ballads. As good as he is at singing these type of songs it would be nice to see him do something different and I would love to see him dance. I think he is amazing and definately want him to win.

As a personal growth consultant I think Danyl is an individual who has a lot to offer, if the panel of judges had not said anything about his confidence we would have been looking at a different show. The nock back on Danyls' confidence is affecting his performance, Simon looks like a wimp by allowing the other Judges to control his acts. You have contestants not doing anything on stage, you have people jumping, stamping and running alover the place and it is ok. Simon has the three best acts, Sorry Simon but I think you have been played by the other Judges because had they allowed Danyle to carry on like he was, which is why you put him through in the first place, he could have easily won the show and he would be amazeing. I was all for supporting my favourite act, but then realisation finally set in.... It doesn't matter who you vote for, it seems that the winner has already been decided. It's curious that a personal friend of Louis 'discovered' Jedward before they auditioned for the X-Factor, a personal friend who also helped to put U2 on the road to success. Is it just co-incidence that Louis got the groups? Probably not. I've heard it too many times now, how it all comes out after the final that the winner and often other finalists all have a 'connection' to the business somewhere along the way. It's a shame for all the genuine people that turn up for auditions with real hope of achieving their dreams.

I think the likes of Louis and Simon use the show as a springboard for acts they've already signed. Shame really, because the show can be very entertaining, but this just leaves a sour taste in your mouth.

I think the X factor has ruined Danyl. He started off as an innovative and somewhat OTT performer, and something at least a bit different. Since the early rounds he's been ground down until he doesn't dare do anything different in case he's branded arrogant. Such a shame and a waste of a really good talent.

I sooooo think Danyl was over-reacting. But as me and my mum think, he's put under stress as Jedward are still in the competition, and all the good singers are left except Jedward. Personally at some point in the competition a lot more acts will suffer Danyl's stress.

He is such a great singer and performer- I don't think he comes across as arrogant/over-confident at all!
He just really puts everything into his performance and you can tell he has a great time.

I dont understand why everyone has a problem with danyl when there is still people like lloyd on the show who cant even sing, danyl has had a really tough time lately he isnt even allowed to dance in the competition anymore because people might see it as him being over-confident, i think he is a great singer, a great performer and i also think he will do well in the competition.

After Simon's hypocrisy recently and the fact that Jamie lost to Lloyd and Lucy lost to John and Edward, I'd leave the show on principle alone.
I don't like Danyl in the slightest, and X-factor in general has become an insult to the good contestants. It's no longer a singing competition, as Simon likes to state it is, it's all about who's better looking or who's storming out of where. The show has become sad and shallow; the way which some fear the world is becoming.

Simon always chooses the WRONG songs that is crap choice its like he wants Danyl to to do badly... a the others judges also choose bad songs for the contestants - if the afro guy had had better songs to sing, he would still be in... but since the likes of the 2 farts from Ireand are still in that says it all?? What is this show all about? Sting was correct with what he said + the new format is crap. I'm a bit confused by this comment "he should talk about it first." at the end of the article when it says earlier: "after a dispute over song choices" Surely a dispute signifies that there WAS an attempt to talk it over?! Also what's really weird is that for a few weeks he's been told he's underconfident so should act more sure of himself, then when he does he is arrogant so should tone it down, and then apparently he's under-confident again! I think arrogance isn't a problem in show-business, how many people do you see get up there who are convinced they CAN'T sing?! Ahhhh well

I'm pretty sure that Danyl is not the first contestant to throw a tantrum over song choice, and more than likely won't be the last.
But the poor bloke is probably the only one to attract bad press for it...and so what he's under a huge amount of stress. Trying to launch a successful singing career is stressful enough without joe public constantly critising every little thing he does. He's been got at for his sexuality (live on stage as well), for being too cocky, for not having the right hair style, what next? perhaps he opens is mouth too wide when he's singing? It's all pathetic and really not needed to be exploited in the media...give the guy a break.

I think it is the judges that have done this to him, I don't think he was over confident in the first place. As everyone watched his first audition all the judges loved him and he didn't change so why did they suddenly decide to put him down. I think it is because they find he a threat because he is so good and they don't want their other acts to go out. I love Danyl and have wanted him to win from the start, and judges have to stop putting him down and saying what he isn't or he will loose control and do something like this. He is very confused, he doesn't know if he should do amazing and be how he is or be dull and do what the judges say then get into bottem two and maybe loose the best singer in the compertition. Tell the truth judges !!! And don't keep you own acts in just cause they are yours, keep the best ones in !!!

It appears that most if not all of the judges other than Simon who is after all Danyl's mentor are seriously threatened by the guys talent. He has probably the best voice on the show and is being got at constantly by the other judges.
The song choice is awful, can't imagine anyone wanting to sing that, so why shouldn't he be allowed to sing something that he feels comfortable with. Simon doesn't always pick the right songs despite his experience. Would be a great shame if Danyl's future career is compromised because of other peoples ego trips.

Danyl is a fantastic singer and should be allowed to perform songs in the same way he did for his initial audition when he won the hearts of all the judges and public. The judges should be honest and unbiased in their comments as their fickleness is unfair to all the performers, one week Danyl is "cocky" and this week he was "trying too hard". No wonder they are all fed up with being treated as idiots and the judges have, in my opinion, let themselves down as well by their irrational statements and petty jealousies.
