WHAM! Jedward take on 80s double act on X Factor this weekend

By Sarah Karmali  on Wednesday 18 November 2009

John and Edward Grimes - X Factor - Celebrity News - Marie Claire

Jedward look to set to get the entire nation talking once again, as they take on a Wham! hit for this week's X Factor.

It's a fact that we've graciously just come to accept. Despite weeks of disbelief and fierce protesting, John and Edward are still in the X Factor competition.

And although it pains us to admit it, we think we're actually growing quite fond of the gruesome twosome...

This weeks Wham! theme, in which contestants will tackle the hits made famous by 1980s duo George Michael and Andrew Ridgeley, will surely put the Dublin twins at an advantage, as the only double act in the competition.

But as the theme has only just been agreed upon so late in the week, it is thought that Louis Walsh is still undecided as to which track the boys will sing. And of course, we say sing in the loosest sense of the word.

The boys are rumoured to either be taking on huge hit I'm Your Man, or the lesser known Wham Rap! - which could help disguise their distinctly average voices.

The song, which involves a large portion of rapping, got to number eight in the charts in 1983, with the video depicting George and Andrew dancing around in leather jackets.

But whatever it is that they end up performing, we're willing to bet that it will get everyone talking once again...

Last week, the boys hit the headlines following claims that the sound men were ordered to drown out their voices on stage, and DJ Calvin Harris gatecrashed their performance.

But one thing's for sure, they'll be hoping that their Wham! attempt gets them enough votes to once again keep them out of the bottom two on Sunday night.

This week's results show will also see performances from Britain's Got Talent winner Susan Boyle, and megastar Mariah Carey.

I wonder if they took so long to decide on a theme because they were trying to find something that would specifically cater to Jedward? Sounds like it...

They are the only act I look forward to seeing each week. I don't think any of the others have lived up to the promise of their original auditions. There has been a lot of singing out of tune on the show lately (Olly last Saturday anyone..?!) and at least the twins do it with style.
