Johnny Depp agrees £21 million pay deal to return to Pirates
Rex Features
Swashbuckling Pirates of the Caribbean star, Johnny Depp has agreed to return for the next film, after negotiating a whopping £21 million ‘basic' pay deal.
The American superstar has been in all three of the Pirates blockbusters, and this new deal will make him the highest paid star in Hollywood.
And for Mr Depp it just gets better. This deal only specifies his minimum earnings, and the sultry star could stand to earn far more if the film does well.
Johnny got a not inconsiderable £15 million deal for the third film, and with this new corker, stands to take home nearly £50 million from all four films in total.
It was rumoured that Depp wouldn't be returning for the fourth film, but after both Keira Knightley and Orlando Bloom pulled out, it seems bosses decided to pull out all the stops to keep the star on board.

So who will play Jack Sparrow's new leading lady? It's rumoured Penelope Cruz is in the running for the female lead, but for now we'll just have to wait and see!
Is £21 million over the top? Or will you be rushing to see Johnny and his Pirates once more? Let us know your thoughts in the comments box below.

21 million?! Can you imagine?!!! That's ridiculous. The film won't be the same without Keira and Orlando anyway, as much as I love Captain Jack Sparrow.

As much as I admire Depp's work, I won't see the next POTC. This franchise has run its course. Leave it to a money-making machine to beat this dead horse.
