Twilight mania hits London as Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart arrive to promote New Moon

Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart were faced with thousands of screaming fans last night, as they stepped out on the red carpet to promote the latest Twilight film, New Moon.

The sultry stars - who were also joined by Taylor Lautner and the film's director - walked the red carpet before hosting a question and answer session and fan party at the venue in Battersea Park.

The event was hastily arranged for distraught fans, after plans for a London premier were scrapped.

But only 2000 made it inside the venue, beating tens of thousands of others applying for tickets on the Twilight fansite.

The rest of the excited fans waited patiently outside for the stars to arrive. Some had been camped outside the venue since 8am yesterday morning in a bid to secure prime position.

Despite freezing conditions, the superstar vampires spent time walking the red carpet and signing autographs for fans.

Hotter-than-hot teenage heartthrob Rob showcased his signature laid-back look in a lose fitting suit and white shirt, while brooding vamp Kristen teamed a glam Proenza Schouler Spring 2010 look with simple black courts.

The newly unveiled couple - who just days ago were seen holding hands and snuggling up as they touched down in France - gave nothing away about their relationship.

The stars have been hard at work jetsetting around the globe to promote New Moon, which is released on November 20. In just the last few weeks they have attended press events in America, Brazil, France and Japan.

They both look terrible! It's as if they can't even be bothered to be there. Do they realise that they're on a red carpet at a huge London premiere?! Thank god for Taylor Lautner scrubbing up well in his smart suit.

I can't wait for the 20th... I'll SO be one of the people at the midnight screenings!!! Love the way Rob and Kristen aren't bothered about being too glam - they both seem really down to earth

Kristen looks lovely. The bright colours look great on her. She doesn't need to wear big glam frocks like other stars because she's edgy and different and thats why we love her!

I hope Kirsten didn't pay for that "thing" she is wearing, its hideous, looks like she got dressed in the dark and miss matched everything - I take it it is a two piece, if its a dress then a big thumbs down to the designer - he/she/they need a white stick and a guide dog. Films and books are great though, its just that whatever Kirsten is wearing that doesn't do a thing for anyone.

I love the fact Kristen is so unprectible with her style - she's not scared to take risks, so doesn't look like the majority of Hollywood stars.

Yes i do have to admit, what she is wearing is abit out there but i think i suits her maybe Rob could of done with a shave and well Taylor just looked fine. I love a man in a suit. I think what Kristen is wearing i would give it ago. lol. x
