She might be the darling of the television and music worlds, but is Cheryl Cole's marriage suffering due to her success?

The Girl Aloud was reportedly left in tears last weekend, after husband Ashley Cole refused to attend a party to celebrate her number one single, Fight for this Love.

The Daily Mail claims Mrs C was due to celebrate in style, with a bash at London's Mayfair Hotel, but cancelled the event after her footballer beau would not join the fun.

A source told the paper: 'The Cole household is not a happy one at the moment, Ashley has a touch of the green-eyed monster and doesn't like being in Cheryl's shadow.

'There's a lot of tension between them because Cheryl is busier and busier and she is now eclipsing Ashley's success. He's acting like a spoilt child because she's getting all the attention.'

The England defender was in the audience when his wife performed her first solo single on the X Factor, but reportedly only after Cheryl's Girls Aloud bandmates persuaded him.

'He didn't plan to come to that but the other girls gave him a load of grief and told him he had to be there,' added the source.

This is not the first time the Coles have suffered rumours that their marriage is on the rocks. The footballer notoriously hit the headlines, when hairdresser Aimee Watson claimed she had enjoyed a fling with him following a night out.

After all she's done for him!!! What an ungreateful, bitter, jealous. He really dosent deserve a women like cheryl, she is so lovely and warm and in my opinion is the sexiest women alive!

Oh and by the way the ratbag Ashley had an affair with aimee Walton not Watson, (she was a real minger!)
