Cheryl Cole brands Simon Cowell rude and annoying

It looks like the pressure might be getting to Cheryl Cole, who has launched into an unexpected rant against Simon Cowell.

What with mentoring her X Factor contestants, promoting her debut solo material and having to deal with Simon Cowell on a daily basis, it's understandable that Cheryl might be feeling the heat.

'There is tension between us on the actual Saturday night, when he starts getting annoying and saying nasty things,' she said of her fellow X Factor judge to BBC News. ‘It gets really heated backstage, and quite competitive.'

'I don't feel like I'm a competitive person. I feel like the best person should win the X Factor, whether they're in my category or not,' she continued. ‘But he's so competitive and so rude sometimes that I find myself getting caught up in it.'

'Honestly, he's really annoying. Really annoying,' she finished.

But it looks as though her success as a solo artist might just put a smile back on her face this weekend...

It's set to be an impressive double whammy for the starlet, as she may well be topping both the single and album charts on Sunday.

Her debut solo album, 3 Words, was released on Monday, and midweek sales indicate that she's storming ahead of both Michael Jackson and Michael Buble to grab the top spot.

She's currently number one in the singles chart after her first solo track, Fight for This Love, went straight in at the top, and became the fastest selling single of the year so far.

So tension or no tension, we're sure we're going to be seeing the Geordie lass flashing the nation those pearly whites once again on the X Factor stage this weekend.
