Matt Lucas leaves West End show

Matt Lucas has announced that he will not return to his role in the West End stage show, Prick Up Your Ears, after the death of his ex-partner.

He pulled out of the show immediately after the suicide of Kevin McGee last week and producers of the show said today that Matt would not return to the show.

He will be replaced by film and stage actor Con O'Neil who will play the main character, Keith Halliwell.

Kevin McGee was found dead last week at his flat in Edinburgh. He posted a message on his Facebook page just before he committed suicide, saying: 'Kevin thinks death is much better than life.'

Matt and Kevin married in a civil ceremony in December 2006 but the marriage ended last year.
