Madonna and Lady Gaga's catfight on Saturday Night Live

Here's something we never though we'd see! Madonna and Lady Gaga fought it out for pop supremacy on US TV's Saturday Night Live this weekend, brawling their way through an on-screen catfight.

All in the name of comedy, of course, the blonde superstars took to the stage, both clad in leather lingerie and over-the-knee boots, and while they started the skit performing a dance routine, the chart-toppers' rivalry soon descended into a kicking and screaming fight.

Pulling each other's hair, pushing and shoving, the pair proved they were game for a laugh, but soon kissed and made up, after being pulled apart by the show's host.

The singers have made no secret of their mutual admiration. Madonna took daughter Lourdes to one of Gaga's NY gigs, while the Lady has often compared herself to the Material Girl.

She told an interviewer: We're both Italian-American women, we both started out in the New York underground scene - and we both became famous when we dyed our hair blonde. I think what Madonna and I share is that we're both fearless, we both have a lot of nerve.'
