X Factor beats Strictly - again!

Simon Cowell, Cheryl Cole, Dannii Minogue and Louis Walsh - Celebrity News - Marie Claire

Both shows feature glamorous girls, tales of hard work and heartbreak, and a big dollop of glitz.

But The X Factor has trounced Strictly Come Dancing in the Saturday night rating's war for the second week in a row.

Over the weekend, X Factor pulled in 10.1million viewers, compared with just 8.7m for Strictly.

Former jockey Richard Dunwoody became the latest contestant voted off Strictly on Saturday.

He said his time on the celebrity dance contest had been an 'unbelievable experience', after he lost out to Coronation Street star Craig Kelly in a dance-off.

Cheryl Cole and Co. may have won the ratings battle, but viewing figures for The X Factor were down on 10.7m for last weekend.

'The X Factor performed particularly well with the younger audience, attracting 49% of the 16-34 demographic over the whole show, compared to 23% watching Strictly,' said a spokesman for ITV.

Contestants are still auditioning for the singing talent show, so no firm favourites have emerged yet.

However, Hollyoaks actor Ricky Whittle is already tipped to win Strictly after judge Len Goodman told him, ‘You are the one to beat'.
