Whitney Houston: ‘I mixed cannabis and crack cocaine’

Further shocking details have emerged of Whitney Houston’s battle with drug addiction after the singer’s interview with Oprah Winfrey aired on American TV screens last night.

The 46-year-old singer has launched her big career comeback, topping the U.S. charts with her album I Look To you, and in so doing chose to give a warts and all confessional interview to the Queen of the chat show sofa, Oprah.

In the candid tell-all, Whitney admits that she mixed cannabis with crack cocaine in the depths of her addiction.

The singer admitted that her drug-addled life spiralled out of control after her appearance in 1992 movie The Bodyguard.

She revealed: ‘Before The Bodyguard it was very light. After The Bodyguard it started getting heavy. Cocaine. Marijuana.’

Whitney confessed that her and ex-hubby Bobby Brown would sit in silence for a week at a time, watching TV and smoking cannabis laced with cocaine.

She explained: ‘We were not doing pipe smoking. You roll it up and you smoke it in your weed. It's almost like heroin cocaine speedballs but you level it off with marijuana, OK?’

The singer revealed how her marriage crumbled and Bobby Brown became abusive when the drug addiction took hold.

‘He spat on me and he had hate, such a hate in his eyes for me. I was angry. I was very hurt. I knew something was going to blow,’ revealed Whitney.

‘He pushed me against the wall. I went back and I took the phone and I hit him over the head with it. He fell down on the floor.’

The pair split in 2006 and later divorced in 2007. Whitney revealed to Oprah that it’s thanks to her mother, Cissy, that her life is now back on track. She intervened by arriving at Whitney’s home with armed police and a court injunction, giving the singer an ultimatum: go back to rehab or leave your career behind forever.

u kno wat houston u shudnt listen 2 uva people u werent well and if people dnt get that then they can go 2 hell bcoz it takes a strong women to be adictedd to drugs and giv them up but it takes an even stronger women to admit it and be proud. you should be proud as wat u did was hard so hard in fact some people dont even make it out on de other side and the fact that you did shows how you are such a stronmg minded person and that if you put your mind to it you can achieve even the most difficult of tasks, dont think that u have let some of your fans down, you have just made them more aware, and youve been honest, that is why you are my role ,odel and that is what you will forever remain no matter what
