Madonna made her 51st birthday a family affair yesterday, as she celebrated in Italy with 22-year-old boyfriend, Jesus Luz, and her children, Lourdes, David Banda and Mercy James.

Holidaying in Portofino, the singer kicked off the festivities with a sumptuous dinner on Sunday night at the Splendido hotel. The intimate party saw 30 guests, including Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana, descend on the exclusive venue.

The next day, the family took to the waves on a private boat ride. Marking the occasion, both David and Mercy donned 'I Love Madonna' T-shirts, while the Material Girl herslef changed into a 'Madonna 1' personalised baseball kit to launch into the sea.

Looking seriously loved-up, the superstar and her toyboy spent the day cuddling and kissing, with Jesus seeming perfectly at ease with the family set-up, sitting David on his lap as they boarded the boat.

Madonna's son Rocco, her only biological child from her marriage to Guy Ritchie, was not present.

The singer is currently continuing her world tour, and on Saturday night started her big-day celebrations, as fans at her Warsaw show sang 'May You Live A Hundred Years', a traditional Polish birthday song.

Clearly touched, she told the crowds, 'Every time I do a show, and every time I look into your eyes and every time I see your smiles, you changed my life. It's amazing that I’ve been able to do what I do for so many years, thank God, I love my job, I love being able to be here with you tonight. This is the best birthday present ever, so thank you.'
