Jennifer Hudson becomes mum to baby son

Jennifer Hudson has become a mother for the first time after giving birth to a bouncing baby boy.

The Oscar-winning singer, and former American Idol contestant, has named her new arrival David Daniel Otunga Jr, after her fiancé, lawyer-turned-professional wrestler David Otunga.

'The baby is beautiful and perfect. His parents are ecstatic,' Jennifer spokeswoman told reporters.

David's birth ends a emotionally fraught year for Jennifer, who last October tragically lost her mother, brother and nephew when they were shot in Chicago.

Her brother-in-law, William Balfour, has been charged with the murder of all three.

Jennifer, 28, chose not to confirm or deny her pregnancy, making few public appearances over the past nine months. However, she made a rare exception for Michael Jackson's memorial service last month, when she sang Will You Be There.
