Mischa Barton remains in hospital

Mischa Barton remained in hospital this weekend after being sectioned last week under involuntary psychiatric hold.

With rumours about the actress and her state of health continuing to swirl around Hollywood, one helpful 'friend' claimed the former OC star was 'suicidal'.

'She's running out of money and can't find love, so now she is looking for a good time to escape her misery. She is on a downward spiral,' the alleged pal told reporters.

Mischa's publicist, Craig Schneider, wasn't quite so damning, funnily enough, but has confirmed that his client remains under doctors' care at the Cedars-Sinai hospital in LA.

While the premiere of Mischa's latest film, Homecoming, went ahead without her on Friday, the start date for filming on her new TV show, The Beautiful Life, which co-stars Elle Macpherson and is being produced by Ashton Kutcher, has been pushed back until 31 July.

However, on-set sources said this was less to do with the absence of Mischa and more to do with the fact the sets aren't yet finished. Whether Ms Barton will be reporting for duty when the show finally does start shooting will remain to be seen.
