Mischa Barton placed under psychiatric care

Mischa Barton was hospitalised yesterday, and has been placed under involuntary psychiatric hold.

The 23-year-old actress has entered the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, Access Hollywood reports, and is being held under Section 5150 involuntary psychiatric hold, the same code that Britney Spears was hospitalised under in January 2008.   

Although her condition is as yet confirmed, her rep told People, 'Mischa has been hospitalised per the recommendation of her doctor and is resting in the hospital.'

Concern was raised for Barton's health earlier this week, when she called police to her home at 3pm on Wednesday, due to a 'medical issue.'

An LAPD officer confirmed, 'We assisted her with a medical issue and removed her from her home.'

Rumours regarding the OC actress's health have been swirling for months, as she faced growing criticism for her hard partying following a string of bleary-eyed, washed-out appearances, and faced scrutiny over her fluctuating weight.
