How to get into ...

Peter Andre calls 'public marriage' a mistake

By Lucy Hutchings  on Thursday 16 July 2009

Peter Andre - Celebrity News - Marie Claire

Peter Andre today called for privacy, as he gave an emotional TV interview - the first since his split from wife Katie Price.

Appearing nervous and subdued throughout the spot on This Morning, the singer admitted that the public nature of his marriage had been a mistake, but remained coy in comparison to Price's candid tell-all interview with Piers Morgan last week.

Instead Andre stated that he would not get into details of the split for the sake of the couple's children, Princess Tiaamii, two, Junior, four, and Price's son Harvey, seven.

He explained, 'I have purposely not spoken. When you do speak, you have to think long-term. I know one day the kids are going to look back at everything.'

He did reveal that living life in the public eye had been a strain though, telling Philip Schofield and Fern Britton, 'I know I'm going to make mistakes along the way, because you do. Showing your life so public is a mistake sometimes, but I blame myself as much as anyone else.'

As for his wife's revelation that she had suffered a miscarriage shortly before their split, a visibly upset Andre confirmed that he had 'never' wanted the tragic incident to become public knowledge,

'I hope people don't think that [miscarriage] would be behind our split,' he said. 'There's a lot of reasons why we split up.'

Concluding he vowed to say nothing negative about his ex, he added: 'What's done is done. You've got to move on. The kids are everything to me. Yes, we're in the public eye. I don't want to say anything bad about the mother of my children.'

After watching this interview I think that Peter Andre has gained himself a lot of new fans. He was very dignified in his answers and its so obvious that he is a wonderful father.

Whereas Jordan is her own worst enemy. She is a complete disaster and on a downward spiral to oblivion.

Her interview as a PR disaster. I am so glad she is over in the USA at the moment as Britain can get some peace and quiet

He said casually maybe sometimes leading your life so publically can be a mistake. But it was an off the cuff remark among many things, and he did not directly say " I think living in the public eye was a mistake", he just said sometimes it can be. That's very different. And yes I agree he behaved very dignified and sincere.

Respect to the man for not dishing the dirt, and he clearly has the childrens best interests at heart, unlike his ex.

I haven't seen his interview but strongly feel that a dignified silence/minimal interviewing speaks volumes in comparison to her 'antics'. Good on him for considering the children first
