Michael Jackson

The internet went into meltdown this morning, as fans round the world searched for news following the sudden death of Michael Jackson.

Search engine Google crashed under the pressure last night, as millions logged on searching for the latest updates.

First reports that the star had died broke on US celebrity site www.tmz.com, which reported that the star had been hospitalised and that his condition was 'looking bad.'

Internet traffic immediately surged around the globe, with news quickly spreading throughout the web.

With so many logging onto Google searching for news on the King of Pop's death, the site interpreted the search term 'Michael Jackson' as an automated attack, and crashed under the pressure of increased traffic.

This morning, the star's death dominates the web, with nine out of ten popular topics on Twitter relating to Jackson, and his back catalogue of hits racing to the top of the iTunes charts.

like the world over - I'm shocked - he was an icon and will carry on being immortalized more so now he has passed on than when he was here.

I grew up with 'Jacksons' and saw The Jackson 5 their first concert in London - everyone was dancing in the aisles and it was so much fun.

Although there has been and there is so much talent around - he was rather unique. Although I was more of an Elvis fan - I will remember Michael in the same way like I do Elvis - AFFECTIONATELY.

I grew up with 'Jackson' and saw the Jackson 5 when they played at Belle Vue, Manchester. My praise go out to his family.

I've loved Michael Jackson ever since I first had a Jackson 5 album bought for me as a birthday present, so I've sort of grew up with him. When I heard the sad news of his sudden death, I was devastated! It's like losing a family member. He will always be remembered for his musical genius!!!
