Johnny Depp has made a waiter's week by leaving a whopping £2,400 tip after dinner.

The big-hearted star hosted a post-premiere dinner at a steakhouse following the Chicago screening of his new movie Public Enemies.

Joined by co-stars Marion Cotillard and Christian Bale, the star was obviously feeling in a generous mood – and left a hefty £2,400 thank you.

'Depp is one cool and generous dude,' said the chuffed-to-bits waiter.

Meanwhile, Depp - who's starring as The Mad Hatter in Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland - has lifted the lid on rumours he is set to play The Riddler in a new Batman movie.

Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, he said: 'I don't know, I've been asked about it here and there - I'd love to do another film with Christian [Bale] in any capacity, whether it's a Batman thing or whatever it is.

'I certainly loved the series.'

And waiters certainly love you, Johnny!

It is a great tip but if you have millions and are continuning to make millions then leaving £2400 is just like us normal folk leaving a fiver!
He is so cute - I'd rather have a hug from him myself!

its not like leaving a fiver for them. they all value money just as much as we do, they work hard for it and sure do not consider 2 grand a fiver, good job mr depp
