Angelina Jolie was moved to tears for the second time in a week, after speaking on CNN about her visit to Afghanistan as a UN Goodwill ambassador.

As the actress recollected her time in the war-torn country, she concentrated her story on a 15-year-old orphan who was paralysed by a gunshot wound.

'He had this really remarkable, unbreakable spirit, a spirit beyond anything I can imagine.

‘He had lost everything and he was just so full of laughter and kindness.

She added: ‘He passed away a few months after I was there. And so I always wonder about him and young people that you meet and you just think, in any other situation, if this person had been given a chance, what an extraordinary adult he would have been.’

Earlier last week the A-lister showed her vulnerable side again, in an emotional address at a conference to mark World Refugee Day.

Following the Changeling actress’s $1million donation with Brad Pitt to aid refugees in Pakistan, Jolie described her charity work as something that has deeply affected her life.

'The refugees I have met and spent time with have profoundly changed my life. The eight-year-old girl who saved her brother taught me what it was like to be brave.

‘The pregnant woman in Pakistan taught me what it is to be a mother. I thank them all for letting me into their lives.’
