When the rumours surfaced that Katie Holmes might be performing on US television show So You Think You Can Dance (SYTYCD), it seemed like a right royal hoax, but according to reports Stateside, the actress will indeed be showcasing her fancy footwork, paying homage to Judy Garland on the hit programme.

Despite there being no real reason to elevate her profile, Holmes has signed on for a one-off performance singing Garland’s showstopper Get Happy from the 1959 musical Summer Stock.

In a direct take-off of Garland’s showpiece, Holmes will don a sexy cabaret-style ensemble with fishnet stockings, oversized blazer, micro-miniskirt and black fedora hat.

According to one insider on the set of rehearsals at FOX studios, the 30-year-old will give the illusion of dancing on a rooftop (thanks to clever scaffolding set design) and share the limelight with a host of male dancers, dressed up in matching suits and ties.

The programme source revealed Holmes ‘twirls her hair and seductively shakes her hips’ during the routine, before her finale which sees her toss the fedora in the air for one of the dancers to catch.

No stranger to a little provocative dancing in front of the camera, Holmes stole the show in a guest appearance on US series Eli Stone, sizzling on screen as co-star Jonny Lee Miller watched on.

As for her upcoming dance routine, one source told US Weekly: ‘She looks incredible. She is just doing an amazing job. Everyone is absolutely floored by how talented she is.’
