BGT tour takes toll on Susan Boyle
By Kate Matharu on Monday 15 June 2009
Susan Boyle is already feeling the heat as she tours the country with the Britain’s Got Talent tour, dropping out of the Manchester gig last night on doctor’s orders.
The 48-year-old was ordered by medical staff to stand down from Sunday night’s performance in the talent road show and rest up after a punishing schedule which saw the singer belt out her show tunes in three shows across two days.
Manchester fans were left sorely disappointed and Scottish supporters may also miss out on her infamous vocal talent if Boyle - dubbed ‘Su-Bo’ by her legion of admirers – is still unable to sing in tonight’s show in Glasgow and in Edinburgh tomorrow.
The West Lothian runner-up of Britain’s Got Talent was admitted to psychiatric clinic The Priory two weeks ago when she collapsed with exhaustion as the ITV talent competition came to a close.
Boyle’s brother and other family members spoke out following her breakdown saying she was struggling to cope with worldwide recognition and intense public interest, after her performances became overnight YouTube hits.
Despite her recent struggles, Boyle could reap the rewards of her newfound success with speculation from media experts that the singer could charge up to £8,000 a minute to perform live, once the BGT tour is behind her.
Add to that the £8 million fortune the Scottish star will accrue, thanks to her record deal with music mogul Simon Cowell, and Su-Bo could soon be upgrading from her spinster home with cat Pebbles.

I just love Susan Boyle, her audition performance, shown on UTube, is SO refreshing, I bet she did not realise then she would "bring the world's house down" in such a short time.
It is no wonder she is suffering from the intense scrutiny of the world after spending 48 years in obscurity in Scotland.
As I read and agree with, she is a solo act and does not enjoy the support of other members of an act as, for example, Diversity does, she has to get herself together on her own and I think she is coping remarkably well, taking everything into consideration. Bless her.
